yesterday i clipped Inky for the first time this year in preparation for this years shows. I needed to see his condition so i know what areas i needed to work on and im quite pleased with the results. This is after he has wintered out 24/7 in all that snow and just literally dragged in from the field having done no exercise since October :)

i cant wait for the shows now!!

Wow he looks lovely. Do you do much with him? I have a tiny exmoor who I've also just clipped out, what a difference it makes! I'm hoping to show her in hand this yr and my sons Gona do some pony games with her. Tiny ponies can be big fun :-)

Thanks everyone!! He's not cold, he has two rugs on and is in at night now :) We clip bridle paths on the miniatures its just how they are shown :)

laura7891 - i do lots of in hand showing, we go all over the country and ive just started to break him to drive too :)

Ah he looks very cute- I know nothing about minitures and Iam going to show my ignorance, why do you clip a long bridle patch on them, iow why is half the mane hogged?

I know nothing either but if you look at the other picture there is no top half of the mane.

Has he rubbed it out?

He is beautiful- STUNNING colour! :)

Sorry didn't see 2nd page -re brible path- my bad.

Beautiful colour but sorry hate the mane haircut looks a bit rediculous. Mind you I have seen some minature foals that have had their faces clipped out and that looks really ugly. Must be a minature thing ....

Do you do a lot of work with him or did you just clip to make him pretty?

really does amaze me how few people bother to read the whole thread!!

She has already explained the mane is clipped because thats how miniatures are show, and she does lots of in hand all over the country!!!!! FGS People ;) :)

What difference does it make, he`s rugged accordingly (read the whole post it`s not a childrens book just to look at the pictures!)! One of mine is clipped out, she`s in light work (if you can even call it that), I didnt clip her because it`s pretty I did it because she gets hot whether it`s a quick walk around the block or a run about in the field,

He is scrumptious! I love how he stands so squarely in all your pics, a proper rocking horse.

Forgive my total ignorance of miniature showing, but to me it looks more like the M25 than a bridle path :D

Thats some bridle path ! ha ha

And for those moaning about us not reading the whole thread, sometimes I just have a quick look and reply on the quick reply thingy so SORRY if thats a problem

Ha Ha laughing at people getting worked up on my thread!! :)

Just to clarify... miniatures are shown with a longer bridlepath as it shows more of the neck off. Like arabs are shown really. Its a miniature thing :)
Ive not just clipped him to look pretty :) He spends all winter lazying in the field having a well earned break after the showing season. I have to clip him to asses his body condition ( thats why his head and legs are left on as no need to asses these as yet! ) as this is the time of year i start to bring him back into work and exercise him and i need to ensure i am feeding according to his body weight and asses which body areas need working on. miniature horses are shown clipped all through summer... another miniature thing :) He is worked well, even for a miniature and around April our shows start.

And i can assure everyone he isnt cold :)

which is fine if you dont then make rude comments or ask questions that have been answered a million times through the thread already ;) And that is not you btw, just generally :)

And I am calm :p
