Happy huskies

It probably won't be much like what we do, which is more of an obedience exercise than actual 'real world' tracking but I have been out with the SAR team so I shall try and be of at least some assistance :o

But the main thing is to leave the dogs at home for the first few lessons IMO - if the humans have no idea what they are doing, there is no point in bringing the dogs, teach them all the theory and the practise first and then introduce the dogs later. You'll need quite a bit of neutral land if it is going to be a group lesson for everybody to be able to space their tracks out and with as few distractions as poss in the beginning.

Great news on the job:). I am hoping to get to the RSPCA fun day, I think I checked and its June.
I might be interested in the tracking class depending on how it progresses. I have done some very basic stuff with Evie, straight lines and just one turn and over a very short distance. To start off you need lots of space, and lots of treats. I have a friend who is working her dog at TD level, I can ask her for some tips if you like.

I will get more info when I'm in again on Friday but I know it'll be at a reduced price as it's the first time they're doing it, can't remember if it's a 4 or 6 week course, on Saturdays unfortunately so while I'm still working at the hotel I can't do it. :( I shan't be official staff until the end of July.

They do have plenty of space though, once they've brought the horses in for the evening there's a couple of four acre paddocks they have use of and class sizes will be limited.

No idea what they're planning really, I'll pick his brains on Friday. :p
