So after my meltdown about a month ago pony has been nothing but foot perfect. We've had lovely hacks in the woods with our hacking buddy and have hacked alone without me getting stressed when she gets silly. The only struggle I've had is with her head shaking and today we've managed to overcome that with the help of our new micklem bridle :D

Not only did she stop head shaking completely but she also started carrying herself in a natural outline. I cannot believe how much of a difference a different bridle has made!

Oh and to top it off we met an evil pony-eating tractor on a narrow lane whilst we were at and instead of freaking out thinking of worst case scenarios I just pushed her forward and gave her a tap with the whip when it looked like she might nap.

I really feel like we're starting to bond and that she's finally beginning to trust in me :D

I'm so chuffed that I've finally got my confidence back and with how great pony chops has been recently! Onwards and upwards now!

Isn't it just! I think I struggled at first as as well as my confidence issues I just felt I didn't really "click" with H. So glad I persevered though as it really feels like we're getting somewhere now and it's so rewarding :)

I've had a similar break through with my mare and you're right, it is so rewarding. Makes it all worth while :D

Happy posts are good :D

Sometimes you need the bad times to truly appreciate the good times with horses. As you say, onwards and upwards! :)

Couldn't agree more. My previous mare was my horse of a lifetime, we clicked from day 1 and whilst it's hard to believe now, at the time I was completely fearless so H has always had large hooves to fill so to speak. That said, I spent most of my time with old mare trying to think of new challenges for us as I never felt the same sense of achievement I'm getting from riding H.
