Ah, I have to say, drinking beer and watching Schutzhund in the sun in a big stadium was a real ordeal, but I got through it :D

A good omen on the way to the stadium.

Them fearsum protection dogs! This fella who we were out to support, with a young fan, got a V (excellent) rating for construction a few months back, so to compete at world level not long after is a real achievement and one in the eye for anyone that thinks that show dogs cannot work, or working dogs cannot show.

Thanks guys, have since learned that the dog who came third is an active service dog who has done a tour in the 'Stan!

MM, or anyone else who will not be bored stupid :p I was very impressed with the overall structure of the dogs competing, nothing to prove this huge 'divide' people claim there is between working and show types, although the number of 'normal' blanket black and golds competing was negligible and as you will see from FB just one long coat, for the winning national team.
The Canadian team in particular could hold their own in any showring. The only thing I will say is that height is an issue, there were quite a few HUGE dogs and they are not meant to be a giant breed :p

Fab pictures!

Although we have stopped going with Abe i still get email newsletters from our group but all of their trials ect have been days i couldn't get to :(

Couple more :p

The Franch dogs had matching jackets, typically stylish :D

Additionally, one of the GB competitors, whose dog is British bred, owned, trained and handled, had brilliant scores for tracking and protection and could have easily made it into the top ten if not the top three, but dropped points in obedience, was gutted for her - but they did brilliantly in a harsh climate and unfamiliar surroundings (we're more used to windy fields being watched by a handful of people, not cheering crowds in an stadium)

Wonderful pics:D I think I'll start researching GSDs, maybe get a pup. .....The male handlers are a lot more attractive than the dregs we get with lurchers. .... TAKE COVEEEEEER................ :D

I got chased from the photographers area once or twice earlier in the day but after the closing ceremony anyone can go on the field - let's face it, no one is going to cause mischief with hundreds of protection dogs out there :p

Mostly sables of all hues, and blacks, quite a few (true) bi-colours )as opposed to dark black and golds, it's the stripy feet wot makes the difference :p) and then least of all the traditional black and gold 'saddle' patterns. So I was happy :p
Mother cried off after one and a half days but I stayed til the bitter end :p

I was going to comment on the bi-coloureds, but couldn't see in the pics if they really were bi or just very dark :p It's not easy being me in the evenings once the wine kicks in you know!

Pffft, shame on your mum! :p

As she keeps saying, she's done her time, about 45 years of it!!!

(I check for tar heels/striping as a matter of course on darker pigments. And then get very excited if they have them. Very, very, very sad :p)

I'm torn, on the one hand I can completely see why you would develop this behaviour.

On the other hand I just itch to find you a decent specialist in OCD.

:p

YUM! Thats all I can say.

You've convinced me to allow my OH to get another GSD now! :) Just fab!

My OH's family used to breed GSDs and he would train the ones they kept for Schutzhund. He still owns one but he lives in Germany.
So we'd be going over to Germany to get one if so. Wow.... a new puppy and a holiday, what a lucky girl! :D

Lovely photos. I love to see dogs doing what they should be doing!

Oooh hello and welcome!

What was the kennel name? PM me if you prefer :)

Oh and you need to post tonnes of piccies of the new pup if you are to be accepted into the GSD Mafia :D :p :) which you have been, anyway :p

Katikins, the tails never stop wagging and you would be deafened by all the squealing :D

Oh god no, I wish!
He's a fab dog, just the epitome of the breed IMO.
R has been passed back to his lady owner following a bit of basic groundwork/a change of scenery with me (her hubby was a bit overbearing with him and soured him a bit) and he is now going beautifully for her :)

Haha. Oh gosh, what am I letting myself in for! Hehe!

I will find out for you! I'll check with my OH later :)

I've found some piccies of my OH's fellow from FB. Meet Aron :)
