To be honest I would far rather see someone drop the reins for a few seconds and aeroplane - he's not pulling the horse up at this point and it will still be galloping along - before picking up the reins to pull up than have someone give a completely fake "he's my special unicorn" interview afterwards.

With equine social license coming onto the public's radar more each day don't you think it looks unprofessional and will set them against all forms of equine sport?


No I don't. I believe the majority of the un horse educated public will see that as a joyous celebration and an example of sublime trust between horse and rider. To the uneducated eye (and to an extent to an educated eye) the horse has been "set free" to run as nature intended. The public aren't interested in whether the riding looks "professional" only that it is clear that the horse is not being abused.

I don't know about that, I think quite a lot of the general public are indifferent to racing but it wouldn't take much to swing them against it completely, or you get the punters who only care about winning their bet.
