Has anyone clipped this autumn yet?

Mine will be having a small clip this week. Just a chaser or similar so he can remain unrugged. Then he will have the lot off once it gets colder.

Yep, clipped everything off the Cushing's pony three weeks ago when she started going very curly and irish clipped my welsh x last week, she was so hot just hacking about. The TB us OK so far, starting to moult and darken but his winter coat os pretty pathetic so he isn't too hot yet.

Full clip on the 7th, so no, I don't think you're mad. We did group lesson on the 3rd and he was dripping after (it was quite heavy, but he was very uncomfortable).

Only issue is that it's growing out very quickly, but I couldn't have left him much longer.

I clipped our cob last week and my warmblood today. The cob almost overheated my clippers he was so fluffy and the warmblood could have waited a little longer but a busy few weeks coming up. I did find it odd to clip everything off and then turn out for the afternoon in a fly rug, strange weather!

Same here! Washed him down and put thermatex on while I tidied up, he was dry and back out in a lightweight in half an hour!

My lovely shiny sleek cob type has turned into a yak who sheds a pile of hair every time I groom him! Am I mad to think of clipping him this early in the year?

Gratuitous pic because I think he is gorgeous :) :)

No not yet as too early for me, not sure I will clip again this year as I did not last year and things were ok.

Nope - I'm leaving him unrugged as late as possible and he's not sweating up too much at the moment. Also, he's a complete pain to clip so I am planning to sedate and whip the lot off at once but don't want to have to do it more than twice over the winter
