As the title says. This has happened to me 3 times in the last 6 months, and I find it really odd. The first time it was a bus full of city kids - the driver had got lost, and he stopped to ask us direction - cue he whole bus going "ooh, horses" with their cameras out!

The next time was a few weeks ago, on a sunny morning while riding around a local lake. Somone was taking autumnal photos on the other side of the lake, and obviously thought we would look good in the background!

However, today was the strangest. Nearly home after a long hack. Sweaty horses, riding on the buckle like a sack of spuds. Some people pass on the lane (out for a family walk after Sunday dinner) start taking photos! They were right next to us, I have no idea who they were, they didn't say "Aww, lovely horses, is it okay it we take a picture?"... I just looked up to say hello and they were snapping away! Is this normal??

I have had a family video me and my sister one time when we were road training our youngster and she was being a div, my sister slip on her bum and luckily I had the other side...I often wodnered if it was ever on You've Been Framed' lol

Tourists have taken photos when we have been seen in the next village hacking as well.

I had the best one, was hacking past a wedding when the groom jumped up over the wall and asked me if he could borrow my horse (not joking was with a friend or I wouldnt have belived it!!). Que me getting off, him and his wife getting on and having all their wedding photos done on him...... Ok so not just completley random people but a random scenario! Was the strangest hack I have ever been on I have to say :P

Not while out hacking, but our menage is next to a footpath/bridleway, OH has been asked on a few occasions if passers by can take photos, I suppose a coloured bloke riding a horse who is over 18.2 isnt a very common site:)

Yeh, people have taken our picture whilst our hacking. It's weird! Although our villiage has become the new place for London people to move to when they do the whole "let's move to the countryside" thing. So yes when they are out on their sunday walks and see us hacking they always stop to chat and a lot of the time they take pictures.

Yup in 2007, and even of me grooming the Arab I had at the time too! The guy and his wife go everywhere photographing places and they asked if they could take photos of me grooming and tacking up. I didn't know that they took one of me riding away from them when I went to go on my hack! I found them all on Picasa last year so I saved the ones of me :D

Had fella taking our! pics on the beach ride today, but we did look bit like a circus!!!!!! 4 horses, various sizes and colours...5 puppies, black cockers ...5 foot soildiers so to speak and the nana dog a golden cocker.... He did ask though..! Ahhhh, did get lots of admiring looks at pups.(mine is now flaked out on floor)

We have some strange guy (well when I say strange, maybe just a bit quiet! lol) in the village who often is walking about and takes pictures of the village etc - he has many a time taken snaps of us on our horses. All i think is his photo album must be very VERY dull!!!! ha ha

It happened last week. I was riding up the road when two teenaged girls asked if they could have their photos taken with the horse. I just managed to say 'erm, ok' before they got out their bling-encrusted mobiles and took turns posing. I was slightly concerned when one of them was cuddling up close as her <ahem> chest was right up against his mouth and he does tend to bite!

Yeah we live near quite a popular hotel for tourists so comign down the road I get a coachfull of chinese people who get all there cameras out and literally every single one was taking pictures, I just found it hilarious! :)

Yes!!!! I came across this lovely korean family who were on some sort of walk, and they asked if they could have a photo with me! :) I even let their little boy sit on Toddy's back bless him! :) x

A friend found a picture of me driving my old horse on the internet. I didnt know it was taken. Emailed the guy saying could I have the original as it was actually a nice picture. He did check that it was ok to keep the picture up on the internet now he found the driver. Still not sure how I felt about it though as the location was identifiable and nice driving horse etc....

ALL the time!! I keep my horses in a field overlooking the beach and always have people snapping away. Loads of people take photos of us on the beach too and in the sea -the horses go right in swimming so its quite unexpected for holiday makers. Had someone videoing me in the sea once and i totally made their day by falling off and under - totally submerged, spooking the horse as i re-appeared and getting dragged through the water y the horse running backward away from me! My mum and friend were cresed up on their horses holding on for laughing so much. Still waiting for it to turn up on youve been framed! So yeah have had loads of photos taken, dont find it wierd at al!

Yep!
I was hacking along a fairly unkown, unused country road. Creepy guy drives past, stops about 50m ahead of me, gets out, takes pic, gets back in car, drives off.
That unnerved me quite alot!

Randomly found this on flickr - (its me!)

^ this - I wish someone'd taken pics of me like that (I also ride mainly on the beach)!

I remember that when my friend and I were about 9 and were on 12.2s this creepy man wearing a black leather jacket and massive sunglasses (I remember it because it was odd wearing so many dark layers in the bright sun - we'd just come back from the ice cream shop after all!) was taking photos quite obviously of our faces (he was only about 4m away at the time). Needless to say we were quite creeped out after the amount of stranger danger lessons we'd been getting at school, so we promptly galloped off and told no-one in case we weren't allowed to ride out anymore :o

Aside from that, only the usual tourists saying "oooh look a horsey" in various hilarious accents (ever heard an American trying to read Welsh road signs - sounds so odd but you can't correct them when they're trying so hard and think they're right :p)

Happened to me quite a lot, specially when riding through city center, some artist guy said he was doing a painting of us, bumped into him a few times along river gardens and across assembly rooms, he showed me some of his work out of his bag, mmmmmm, managed to avoid him ever since, his work looked a bit ermmm, random shall we say :(, wondering if I will manage to avoid him permanently.

rowenna, they are brilliant, i would love pics like that.
I have had my pic taken on my horse a few times, but usually ask first.
strangest thing was in the summer when i had hubbys car and had the top down.
I just parked up and a guy pulled up next to me, he shouted, 'hey blondie' and when i turned, he started snapping away with real fancy camers.
I was so surprised I didn't say anything, just turned away until the roof was back up.
bit creepy tho'

I used to ride with the Civil Service Riding Club in the days when they had their own horses stabled at the Royal Mews. Every time we hacked out, we'd have our photos taken by the tourists outside Buckingham Palace, just in case any of us were royal, presumably.

Wow, those beach pictures are stunning!!

Seems like taking photos of the nice horsies is fairly common then, and I'll just need to get used to it :)

My daughter and I were stopped on a hack once by a woman who wanted to take photos of one of the horses as she carving a rocking horse and wanted photos to get the exact colours and markings.

We were on a prettily marked dapple grey with pure white mane and tail and very dark points and a bright bay. I nearly fell of the bay with surprise when it was his pictures she took as she wanted her rocking horse to be different from the norm.
