To anybody who has one are they meant to have a sort of double seam going down the haynet? Looking at buying a second hand one off someone and theirs does but can't see this in pics on website. Thanks, Rachael

Has yours got green rope to hang it up by? This one has white. Just want to double check it's genuine before I fork out for it. Thanks

I had one - took my horse one night to eat a big hole in it so it didn't trickle anymore. Complete waste of money IMHO. Try double netting instead. ;)

Blimey, your horse has good teeth! Trickle nets work for mine although they have worked out that it's easier to eat the hay through the top where you tie the net up.

They trashed double nets pretty quickly.

I have three. They have a diagonal seam in them. I use them for three horses and so far none of them have broken them. They are very good quality. My ropes are bright yellow.

I agree. Maybe happytohack had a faulty one? My horse trashes anything that comes between him and his food and has yet to have any impact on the trickle nets.

They are brilliant! I tie up the top after filling (just put a small knot in the rope it to close it) before tying up normally otherwise he will just pull it all out of the top. Because of the trickle nets I can tie his hay at ground level (he's not shod), which has really helped his COPD as well as helping reduce his hay intake, plus he used to have finished his hay when the YM checked them at 10pm and is now only half way through.

Good tip about tieing a knot in the top. Yep, trickle nets do the job. Where do you tie your nets then? I have a very greedy mare who's not shod and tieing at ground level sounds like a good idea.

I'm thinking of getting one.does anyone know how much in kg they hold? Mine has 8-10kg a night off a round bale (so loose, not solid sections) would I get that amount in one?

Yep. Mine's did the same to both hers last winter, ripped several holes in both. And she's not a particularly greedy or rough type, either. Now I just double or triple net. It's cheaper and she doesn't trash em.

I'm really surprised at that. I have three for exceptionally greedy horses and they're lasting magnificently.

I have 2 one with a green string and one with a yellow one. My horse is quite rough with them but has not managed to damage the net itself, however the one with the green string has frayed badly ;(

I haven't weighed my mare's nets but I can get a whole thick section of a big square bale in my tricklenet. They are pretty big nets ;)

I have one for my boy, its got a yellow rope. I've found it to be fab and had no problems with greedy guts damaging it, he's actually taken very well to using it and seems to have worked out that if he's gentle rather than attacking it he gets better results and its easier to access his grub! Very impressed with it:)

Three of us at my yard have got them and think they are brilliant! Although my boy does seem to get a bit cross with it! Our three are on restricted diets, one fatty and two laminitics and not wanting to tempt fate, they are so far intact.....

All have yellow rope.
