I recommend the long version all the time and you'll see a lot of recommendations for it online, I would figure the short version would be just as useful, good to see its available as I know people have struggled to source them.

I use the long version on a round cob and really like it. It's the best I've found at stopping the saddle from slipping.

I love mine on my 14.2 cob x but mine doesn’t have the padding on the buckles!

Do these fit like a normal size girth or do you have to size up/down?

Girths are measured buckle end to buckle end, though a girth that's actually curved to wrap around the ribcage may measure less than its stated measurement.
You want the longest possible girth with a short girth, so you have to take into account the padding beyond the buckles too, and try and judge the largest size that would fit without interfering with the pad.
Is yours a long girth? They do not have the padding as the buckles are on the saddle, this is a dressage/short girth.

The long version bunched up behind his elbows and rubbed, it was I think too wide for his groove/too soft to keep any structure.

Wash it again, and hang some weights on it while it dries. I find a couple of Terry Pratchett hardbacks are the perfect weight.

I used the long version on my mare. She hated it, only girth she's ever had an opinion on.

Hmm I wonder if this would work for my jump saddle for a chunky Connemara. There is no elastic in them, is there? Size wise my trainer said 1.20cm but that was with elastic, would these measure the same as the straight leather girth does anyone know?

There's no elastic in the non fleece , long version if this., (Thanks for posting this, I'm a huge fan of these girth and have been wanting a dressage version for years !)
