If I like something - Lemieux or not, I'll buy it 🤷‍♀️

I also buy custom saddles and bridles, get regular lessons, get regular bodywork and treatment for both him & me so if also want a whole wardrode of matchy crap then I will!

I only like one colour though so if find something in that colour that I want - I will just get it, I'm too old to care what anyone else thinks!

I purchased a Lemieux saddle pad years ago. It was (benneton?) blue - a lovely, rich, dark blue. Used it for my dressage lesson, had a fantastic lesson. Took the saddle and pad off and... it had stained my white/grey horse blue. Took weeks for it to properly come out. Never used their stuff since. Sold the pad to a friend - she has a black horse 😅

There’s a lot of inverted snobbery about Lemieux.

Personally I don’t do matchy matchy, but Lemieux saddlecloths fit my horse better than any and they’re very good quality, so I have a variety in muted colours. Last years Fig was lovely.

The kids love their matchy matchy on the other hand, and they have 2 sets each, one Lemieux and one Shires Aubrion. They certainly wouldn’t throw them away if they got a new colour next year, that’s a ridiculous suggestion!

Some people just have a real issue with success. Lemieux has been very successful and made a lot of money. Some people will always resent that.

Same. I can afford matchy matchy and lessons, treatment etc.

I agree about the snobbery, personally I have had ps of sweden and eskadron and they wear exactly the same as the le mieux or weatherbeeta for much more money. I do prefer the fit of lemieux close contact pads.

So if I ever, God forbid, went down the matchy matchy route which company would be the best one to go to? In terms of availability, reasonable prices for what you get, longevity, fit etc?
Sorry but it is le mieux! I got the pad for 36 ears for 20 and boots for 17 so because i got really great quality items I can get three sets at a time if I wanted 😍

I've no problem with people liking matchy-matchy. I do take issue with the rise of fast fashion within the equestrian world, and some of the 'influencers' brands such as LeMieux support/are represented by (i.e., the behaviour/practices of some of these people which I do think link to horse welfare).

ETA - and child welfare as well, actually. In some cases.

It puzzles me why anyone wants to stuff padding of any brand under a correctly fitted saddle. It must drive saddle makers and fitters to distraction.

Yes it does if people change the thickness of the pad from what was fitted, but most fitters have moved on from a "well fitting saddle only needs a thin cotton numnah". There are many benefits from using the appropriate therapeutic pad.

Unsolicited I know, but just check out the difference in how the saddle looks in each photo, if the blue set is the most recent photo it would be worth having the saddle checked :)

I actually have a fair amount of pads from them, and OH has gifted me a base layer (hate the material though!). I do like the fit of their pads and they wash well. I have older ones that still look great.

Since my personal horse isn't started under saddle yet, and that's a ways off, I'm far less tempted by all of the colours now 🤣 when I had my ridden horse, if I colour came out that I happened to like, I bought it. Do I have "too many"...well, that's subjective!

My horses care and other needs come first. Nice colours are just an added bonus for me. I would never prioritize a matchy set over anything else! I also don't really do bandages and bonnets so there's that!

There are only so many colours out there and maybe people are a bit disenchanted now?
