Has this horse got a dipped back

Hm, that photo does look a little weird! But on her other advert she says she's selling because she's lost interest, sooo? Maybe

TK, Personally i think there's a world of difference between the horse in the advert and those friesians.

Yes well they are world class stallions but their backs are what some people would call 'dipped'...

They say he is young, so may have a bit more to grow as he does look bum high.

ETA, just ignore that

Only read the last bit saying he is young....8 isnt exactly young

So yes, he is either standing on a slope, or his conformation has a lot to be desired for. He also looks incredibly long.

Well he's not stood on level ground, so that won't help, there is a slight slope if you look, does look a wee bit dipped but then so are lots of hores, I think it makes it look worse due to wear the horse is stood.

Think the stationary one is definately a bad photo, would suggest reserving judgement and asking for more photos as in the one where he is moving it is not so obvious that he has a dip to his back but again it is not a particularly useful photo.

What i mean was there is a world of difference between their backs in the horse in the advert's back. I wouldn't class the other friesians as dipped backed, but i would do the horse in the ad.

Just out of interest, what does it mean health wise to have a horse with a dipped back?

I agree the photo does look a bit strange. Although i think he's a bit croup high rather than a dipped back but i'm no expert!

That's what I thought too x

Well I don't actually think the horse you are reffering in your post would have any health issues at all due to its back confirmation. No doubt in extreme cases then it would cause issues but then it depends on what stress you are putting on the back by what you choose do with the horse.

Horses with dipped or sway backs are little more difficult to fit saddles to, extra care would need to be taken to ensure the riders weight is spread evenly in the saddle, so you may have to go along the rout of made to measure etc

If the horse has been out of work for a while which I think the advert does state this, along with excess weight (not referring to to horse in the add) but just in general lets say, lack of muscle then all this can alter the over all topline of a horse.
Plus how old was the horse? (can't remember of hand) if he's still pretty young then there all over place and take a while to level out.

To be honest when you look and think where his withers are and the saddle area, if anything he looks rather short coupled for his over all size and build as you can get two differnt types to this breed, this one is obvioulsy a heavier sort which some people may actually agree are better suited for riding purposes as opposed to driving.

i think hes more bum high but he has got a slight sunken spine. sometimes they can be like that.just have to be careful how much weight you put on them

Yeah i agree with previous posters - he's a bit dipped & pretty croup high, also the pic of him standing and the one of him trotting look a bit photoshopped as tho they were dropped onto that background but thats probably not relevant! anyway he seems fairly cheap so what can u expect
