What is everyone wearing to keep their heads dry? Hood won't stay up, woolly hats and baseball caps get wet and it's not really cold enough for a woolly yet. I could do with something with a brim and that won't blow off ?

I have a very simple wax hat with a brim (Jack Murphy but was several years ago). It's still waterproof and fits snugly enough not to come off. The brim all round means no water down your neck as with a baseball cap. Looks exactly the same as the one in asmp's link.

I wear a fleece hat under my hood. Hoods seem to stay up better with a hat underneath. I'm fussy about hoods and ideally they have a drawstring and a peak but the baseball cap under a hood option sounds good.

I have a fab waxed peaked cap, fits snugly so doesn't blow off, and great visibility compared to using a hood. You can also get waxed baseball caps....

Get a parka! You can zip the hood right up so it can't fall down!

I just got a Tresspass parka reduced to £39.99. Very pleased with it as its all super waterproof. Rain literally just runs off of it.

Thank you all very much for your suggestions- I have had to google a couple! Never heard of a cheese cutter and was quite disappointed when I saw what it was. I thought there must be a wire involved somewhere. Anyway, I think favourite so far is the Musto cap, mainly because I can identify with that sailor getting gale force wind and torrential water blown in his face, that's just how I felt yesterday. Bushman's hat is also something I've always fancied but assumed would blow off when battling against the elements. Probably something you have to try in person to get the right fit rather than buying online. I've tried the baseball cap under a hood but the brim got soggy and tbh I find hoods annoying, especially when you turn your head and the hood doesnt turn, resulting in loss of vision and a mouthful of hair.

I bought some foam hat reducer strips and put them in my leather wide brimmed hat to make it tight on my head so it doesn't blow away in the wind.
