How many hats do you have?

I don't mean caps or waxed hats etc, but riding hats - ones that are under 3 to 4 years old and that are also at least RC comp legal?

Asking the question as friend has just picked up another, now having a choice of 4, one for hacking and 3 for competing. (Am not envious, just curious)

I have my 2yr old CO pro 2 skull which is used for just about everything and also a velvet for occasional shows or stressage.
I have 3, i have a lightweight john whitaker, a charles owen skull cap and various silks and one I got from Horze, cant remember the make, ?

I buy the highest standard skull cap and use it for everything. I can never understand people using a lower standard for hacking/ schooling at home - I'd always understood that was where most accidents happen!

I do keep a spare in my spares box to take competing, in case I forget mine .

I tend to buy them when I see a good sale, so have spares at all times instead of buying one for £140+ when I immediately need a new one. I have 4 plus one I use to lunge in when necessary (fell off in it a couple of times so I would never ride in it).

To be honest, I only use one of them for most of the year. I hate jockey skulls, but I use one when it’s raining in the winter as it doesn’t have vents. Another is a brand new showing hat which I will inevitably sell. And last one is a Dublin I got in a good sale (when they used to make helmets) which isn’t the most comfortably but is super ventilated with a thin liner for hot summer days.

After having so many to compare, I now wouldn’t buy anything except gatehouse.
