having the worst day known to man!

I didnt realise it was a contest tbh....clearly the title is more of an exasperation then a fact...

Have i ever said any of my issues outweigh anyone elses....

My penniesworth - I know you have the facilities for a Feb foal, but that won't include grass! That is what a mare needs in an ideal world. I know to win at shows it is nice to have an early one but surely for the first couple of months of its life the sun on its back would be preferable, and chill out time with mum. I know tb foals do it all the time but it doesn't mean it is better or more natural.
And I think people who have lost loved ones and so on today might think your missing straws are not that big a deal!

cba to read through the thread  lazy i know :o:D

But..... CHIN UP AND SMILE DD !

If it makes you feel any better i spent most of the morning shivering like a ******** dog whilst holding Tess for the farrier in the bloomin snow :p

And i really feel for those who have lost their friends, i never stated otherwise....if i had posted this on their threads then yes i would understand your point of view...honestly, cannot do right for wrong!

FWIW, our grass is imported from kentucky in america and dee's doing very well on that and adlib hay made from the same grass. The yard used to be a thoroughbred stud many years ago and the time invested in the land and maintaining it has paid off. Unfortunately with performance horses it is preferred for a sightly earlier foal so they look their best for gradings, they are that little bit more mature, little bit bigger etc.

I shake my head at HHO somedays....

It was our new farrier aswell ! a lovely lady but no she said she was to hot and stripped down to a jumper

Hope everything works out with Dee in the end !

Thanks hun :) Its not just the fact we might have missed her season, but thats a lot of money down the drain thanks the the royal fail. :(

i think its time you had a nice large glass of wine, and relaxed.

I understand your frustrations, been there done that !! Im sure all will work out OK. Even if she doesnt catch this time, theres always next month. When breeding your own, you need deep pockets, and plenty of patience.

As for the gradings, you should have plenty of time. My mare was born end of May, and made both the BEF and KWPN gradings. Plus my neighbours filly was born the end of July and still made the BEF, and got a high first premium.

The grading teams will be experienced enough to see past the ages.

From what the stud told me, my mare caught on the last day of her cycle, so it can happen

Good luck:)

Thank you Asha, i still havent relaxed since dad's op! I cant have a a wine as on call but monday night, ill be having a glass!

I understand deep pockets but its the time and effort everyone went to to get the sample here for today and the mail service didnt deliver...no one elses fault but there you go, suppose its one of those things. :)

Dee was born early april and looks very babish still when graded with BHHS - she was talk and lanky! (all ears and legs!)

:) thank you for the positive words :)

Agreed!

OP you need a chill pill. I get stressed just reading your posts :o

It will happen when it's right. Breeding isn't cheap and very rarely do things go how you think they will so make sure you have a big pool of money and some valium handy ;)

I will pop some in the post via Royal Mail . . .:p

Honestly though it will happen, it just pants that it's a weekend and the weather has been so bad.

O and just stick to the repo vet ;)

With l all the snow around the country I'm not surprised RM failed to deliver. Watching the news now and some of the images are shocking. My thoughts are with the family of the 26 year old found dead in the snow :(

D I may have over dosed on the beer. Making things feel a LOT better ;)

Although I do have an image of sperm swimming around in a test tube, in a envelope stuck in a post box.....they must be sooooooo bored with nothing to try and crack ..

As long as its warm enough for the foal to go out, after having two foal born end of Jan... never again, poor ******s apent most of there time in a stable or turned into an indoor school

I hadnt heard about this :( How utterly tragic :(

Don't worry too much if you don't get her on this cycle, I had an early April baby and he looked nice, and fairly mature at futurity that august. And he did very well!!
It WILL happen :)

The new futurity rules are so confusing.... i assume i am elegible...dee is graded and pink papered and the stallion is graded with several higher first winners and himself a double winner. :)

It WILL happen, must say, dont like this weather much :S

My 3 y/old was a January foal. And he's from the north of the land north of the border :p

Virtually no snow between Newmarket and Kent, though - no excuses Royal Mail

Very eligible :)

knew i spelt it wrong :). Thank you, the BEF website isnt the most user friendly! I must say i am excited about all of this :D. I did young horse classes with dee and we did very wel, but in hindsight she was mature enough :).

Hows you're youngster?

Don't worry I'm sure it will cum soon :)

:D freudian slip?

Thats my thoughts too...ive been getting citylink delivieries all over england, scotland, and only one small area of wales is proving difficult today.

I love Legrande :) lovely stallion :) i bet the foal willbe a cracker

I should think so, mum is gorgeous and an ex-grade A showjumper so it should be multi talented! They want a yellow baby but mum is grey so... :D She's also been getting bigger and bigger from at least 6 months on and you can see her getting a good kicking from a distance so she has quite a baby in there! Not long now.
Hope the swimmers are still swimming when you finally get them!!
