I am paying £25 for a large round bale in Cambridgeshire. Can get cheaper but quality is not as good as the £25 ones. Haylage, we know someone doing large round bales for about £20, but limited supply.
I called about mine today and they have fixed their prices at last years ones! I am getting 40 150kg bales of extremely good quality haylage for £1,040 which should last me the winter.
I get some of my hay for £1.50 collected and it's lovely but only a limited amount. The rest is £2.75 delivered. Haylage is £8.00 for 50kg square collected or £21 for 150kg collected but is the best stuff.
So far I'm being quoted £3.50 to £5 per small bale! Really should have got some more off the field when I had the chance to. Round bales are about £35. I think it could be an expensive winter.
Last winter I paid £2.50 for small bales and £25 for round bales.
I found out yesterday that the small bales of hay have gone from £3 to £3.75 !! talk about a jump in price. Just a pity I havent had that increase in wages to pay for it.
and I didn't think we had a bad harvest.
