i use hay for my horse and wasnt sure if i should change to hayledge?

shes got tb in her so drops weight fast if shes not bunked up shes eats 12lb of hay even in the summer each night :)

what do you use and why?

haylage... cos it's easier to get in from the fields. Not a great reason, but the truth. Personally prefer hay but we can have haylage at about 1/3 the price...

From reading your previous posts, I'd think twice about giving your horse lots of haylage. My TB gets ad lib hay and haylage, but she's very chilled out and quite a poor doer. I have a few friends who don't give their horses haylage because it makes them too hyper.

I only feed soaked hay but thats due to my horse having had laminitis in the past :(....and coughs with dry hay.....

I used to give haylage to my previous TB and it gave him the runs  so he was on soaked hay as well.....think I am destined to be a hay soaker for life!!!

I feed stalky clean hay unsoaked and fed on the floor, and also my big chap has haylage as well as he was very ill a couple of years back and struggles to do well just on hay. My other horse is a very good doer so she has just the hay.

I use a mixture of the blue lo cal horsehage and local baled stuff. The hay is local.
