Haybars

Have read a few posts about Haybars on here recently and am considering buying one.

What do people think about them? Are they really as good as they are meant to be?

My horse has a haynet but she wont eat hay off the floor so I am wondering whether or not she would use a Haybar? I know they that the hay wouldn't be on the floor as such but still wonder if she would use it or not?

I've got one - best thing I ever bought! Saves so much time not filling hay nets! If your horse is spooky at anything new believe you me they soon get over it when food is involved!! If the haybar in the only place she can get her hay she'll soon get over any fears!!

In the process of making my own.
Enlisted help from the boyfriend, and so far they're looking great. We've cut the triangles out of plywood which we're going to bolt together (would have used MDF ideally, but didn't have any of that sat in the garage unused) and stained/waterproofed them to match the doors, window frames etc. They'll look really smart when they're up. We're using 2"x2" baton to form a channel for them, so that we can slide them in and out for easy cleaning. Also we chopped just the tip of the triangle off, so that the seeds trickle out the bottom. That way i can just sweep them away in the morning.

I'm not expecting any of the supposedly noticable benefits of freer topline etc as i already feed off the floor - just looking forward to less wastage!

Mine used them for the first time last night and I love them!

I used one at a friends place and found it really good. Its so easy to just chuck the hay in it and they dont drag it all across the floor (into their manes etc.)!

FINALLY got mine put in yesterday!

Brought in one of my totally whappy Appies in- he spooked at it- smelt the hay- then stood happilly munching away!
Think that there a bit expensive for what they are- but hey- dont we ALLWAYS spend too much on our neddies!LOL.
Brill idea l think- helps streatch the topline- so HOPEFULLY a good investment!
Got quite a bit on the floor- but then my neds total pigs......so doubt if there will be any waste!!!!!!!!!
