Haynets on the floor?

I'm in Canberra too ;) Isn't it nice to just lie in bed with the windows open, listening to the constant rain. I know our UK friends are sick of the rain, but I'll celebrate it here for the moment ;)
Jealous! We got 1 good soaking but that was it.. need follow ups for grass to grow. Ponies helped themselves to lawn this morning.. felt sorry for them and left them to it for a few minutes, came back and they had opened all the feed containers and were merrily helping themselves to that too :/ lol
Got a weed guy coming this afternoon to hopefully advise what to do with our paddocks, last owners decided to sow barley grass, which I HATE cause of the grass seeds. So want to remove that but not kill the rest of the paddock so ponies and sheep have something to eat.. could be tricky.

On a slightly different note its breaking my heart seeing his hind and hips look so dippy, i didnt realize how much muscle he had until he has lost it all. Can anyone think of any exercises i can do to help build him up a little bit. (wobbler so uncoordinated, not ridden. Would walking him in hand for 20 mins a day do anything? any ideas welcome! just to ease it [/QUOTE]

Yes it would. I have been in a situation where unable to ride and I did 20 to 40 mins in hand for around five days a week for about six weeks which really helped build muscle.
I did vary it.
Often would just walk out in hand but would use bridle, roller and a bunjee. I put the bunjee over the back just in front of roller, thread through side rings and onto the bit, rather than over the poll and between the legs. We have a long drive with steady incline so is ideal. Do some walk to halt trans and trot if feeling energetic. Rein back 8 to 10 strides is good for building up behind.
Sometimes did work over and around poles.
Occassional lungeing.
Also did some straightness training in school sometimes.
There's lots of things you can do without riding.
