To add to his long list of issues...
My 18yo horse has started violently jerking his head when ridden. This only happens with low sunlight hitting his eyes - when he goes from light to shade etc.
Also happened today when sunlight flashed off a car.

Would this be described as head shaking? I've had no experience of this before.
Vet coming out later in week to check eyes and other things too.

can be, typically you'd notice it when not ridden too though. my oldie is a photic headshaker in strong sunlight. Hers started when she got stung up the nose by an insect and her whole face swelled up... i assume she must have had some nerve damage or similar. She is fine with a face mask on so she wears a fly mask a lot in the field and I have one for riding in bright sunlight too.

Vets offered to MRI her head when it first started but I didn't fancy the treatment options for her, and it's easy to manage so we agreed not to bother.
