hi
I'm fairly new to this forum, just feel like i need to do this.
Last week i decided that i was going to have my gorgeous mare put to sleep.
She went lame in August last year, and after numerous tests overnight stays at the vets, i was told they thought is was soft tissue damage in the foot, and advised box rest. after 8 months she came very nearly sound, i was allowed to take her out for walks and eventually turned out, but after two months she slowly went down hill and quite lame again. she's 21, a TB and has had a very active life eventing in her earlier years. she had changed in herself, no longer a happy mare, and so on Friday i've got to say goodbye to her forever, i've owned her for 11 years and known her for 16. i'm devastated, but i know its the right thing for her, shes in pain even on bute, i dont want her to have to go through any more tests etc.
sorry this is a bit of a downer, but kind of needed to get it off my chest. i'd have added a photo of her if i knew how!
