I've just had a ground source heat pump installed. I was not convinced at all as you have little control over the system. It suposedly keeps the house at what ever you set the thermostat to, but you can't turn it on and off like a normal boiler.
However I have a constant supply of hot water and so far (after about a month of use) the house is always warm.
They work best with a house that has loads of insulation.
I have not seen my electricity bill yet so I don't know how expensive it will be to run!
It ws a nightmare to install but hopefully worth it.
