Was torn between laughter and WTF? when I heard this.
Thought the ad was great

Perhaps still a bit radical for TV. But i'm sure it won't be long before it's just another advert and no one will care one way or the other. Good on Heinz for making the ad though.

I thought the advert was very funny - how can anyone call it offensive

I haven't seen ad but want to. Heard on radio 2 today about it. People getting v upset over child calling burly NY deli man mum - and of course the kiss. After supposed intelligent people had discussed this, a caller pointed out that it was supposed to be a joke on mum being so fab at making sarnies, she appeared to family as said deli man. The gay bit that has got everyone so worked up was not intended to be part of it. But they didn't get the joke.

it was probably my favourite ad... it took me a while to click on (thats just me bein slow) but once i did i thought it was very clever.

i wouldnt have thought 200 votes would be enough?

I thought it was very clever..

obviously those who complained just didnt grasp the subtlety of it???

ASA only need to register one complaint and to investigate and agree with the complaint in order to pull an advert. Two hundred complaints apparently adds no weight to the argument over a single complaint, it's the strength of the complaint that matters.

I think people are still living very sheltered lives... and obviously have no sense of humour!

I'd never seen the advert until I clicked on the link. I fail to see how it is unsuitable for children - especially as the article states that it wasn't shown during children's tv shows. The world has gone mad.

The comment that makes me laugh is this one:

"We are not phobic in any sense of the word, but deeply worried that two men who indulge in such unnatural disease ridden bevhiour can be seen

Oh no no, you're not phobic at all

Unbelievable, how the hell can anyone finds such things offensive? Get a grip. I loved the ad, though couldn't figure it out the first time but that's just because I'm a bit thick

OMG I have heard about this ad but didn't think I'd seen it... now I realise I had seen it, and either I appreciated the subtley of it or the whole thing went straight over my head! I just thought it was a good ad!

Untrendy as I am, I still think people have a right to take offence. The company don't have to pull the ad because some people don't like it, but people have the right not to like it.
I was sent an email recently of 'joke' animal pictures, highlighting little inspirational sayings like 'never give up' or what have you. In the middle was one of a donkey, who had literally been lifted off the ground by the weight of the cart he was trying to pull. Now, while I was a tad sickened by the puppies in nappies and so on that made up half the rest of the pictures, the one of the donkey really really upset me.
The person who sent me that email was clearly not offended by the picture, although she is a horse owner and animal lover, in other words, her world view and her sense of humour are different than mine.
I don't have a TV and I don't watch adverts, since I don't like being brainwashed, so I know nothing at all about the ad in question, I just believe people have a right to have different levels of acceptance.
The world has indeed gone mad if it thinks we must necessarily all find the same things funny, or acceptable.

but what if someone disagrees with you? Or are you the only authority on what is and isn't 'fab'?
The point is, you'd be hard put to find a single thing in the entire world that everyone agrees about.
We are fortunate to live in a country where people are allowed to express their distaste (although that freedom is fast disappearing) about anything - not to threaten, or be abusive, but to express disapproval - and that is a precious freedom, believe me.

This isnt really about gay people, a gay family or a kiss between 2 men-- its a few people who donbt have the mentality or the insight to see it for what it really is....A super mum who makes sandwiches like a deli man, thats the upsetting thing that people cant see it!!!

Not offended by the ad, as it was a bit 'tongue in cheek' but didnt really rate it much as an ad either

I for one wont miss it....... mainly as I hadnt seen it before tonight

Is it the one with the American guy making lunches in the kitchen? It didn't even register with me when I saw it - why do people want it pulled?

As someone said, probably just too clever and subtle for some people. The adverts I find really offensive are the ones urging people to borrow money even if they have CCJs, to buy a new car or their household goods from places with sky high interest rates as they are on low income, or to claim after falling over. Maybe I should complain...
