Hello there. First of all, I would like to introduce myself, since it`s my first topic here.
My name is Reinis and i`m 30 years old, from Riga, Latvia (Baltic states). I`ve been in the saddle for some 16 years, owning my own horse, and i`m Amerigo and Kieffer trained saddle fitter and salesman in Baltics. I`ve completed saddlery re-flock and fitting course in Cumbria school of saddlery (UK) by wonderful tutor David May and later i`ve been trained by Amerigo and Kieffer in fitting, repairs, etc.

While working with horses and saddles, i`ve noticed a growing interest in bit fitting amongst my customers. Since it`s also a topic that I found interesting for myself, i`m currently looking into taking a course/training in bit and bridle fitting.
Since i`m from Latvia, I would like to find something in Europe - most likely UK, since I just love the people there and overall attitude. I`ve stumbled across NEUE SCHULE bit fitting and academy and as I`ve heard, they`re pretty good at this. What`s your thoughts? Should I train by Neue Schule, are they any good or should I find something else where to learn?
Any recommendations? I only can afford to take courses that last maximum for one week, since my options of spending extensive time offshore are limited.

Thanks in advance, excuse me for possible grammar mistakes, since English is not my native and have a nice day y`all!

Hi, just wanted to respond to this, although I can't really offer any advice other than to say that NS are a highly reputable company and that bridle and bit fitting services are greatly overlooked. I know some saddlerys do offer a fitting service and the master saddlers website has a list.
Don't NS offer a free online course of some kind ?

I had a lady from a company called Horse Bit Fit come and do a session with us. She was great, and very knowlegable. She has since left that company, not sure why. Might be worth sending them a message and asking about their consultants and routes through qualifications? Good luck!

They are offering some sort of free course, but their Academy webpage is terrible and unfortunately they are very slow with emails. I`ll sure check the free materials out.

Just wanted to know people`s thoughts about Neue Schule, since in Latvia it`s no use to ask someone about them, since the overall educational level in equine sciences is low. And i`m willing to be trained by a company/tutors with good name, since quality of education is more important to me, than a shiny diploma.

Thanks, I definitely will!

Meanwhile, while i`m looking for a training, maybe someone could recommend a nice book in English about bit/bridle fitting for dummies, since i`m completely uneducated in terms such as mouth anatomy, pressure points, etc, and it won`t be smart to apply for a training with no background knowledge at all.

Thanks :)

I had a woman from there out to us before Christmas and am now riding in a NS bit. Really enjoyed the session and I felt she spent an unhurried time with us going through all the options for my horse. I'd definitely recommend them. They also give talks at yards about bit or bridle fitting and that might be something you could explore when you've got your qualifications/course sorted.
