I'm so sorry for your, and your OH's, loss.
What a rollercoaster you've been through, starting with the days you couldn't find him, then finding him, only to soon find out that something was wrong. The thought of him purring, so happy to be home again made me so sad I couldn't write a reply earlier. It's just to heartbreaking, at the same time it feels even worse to think about how his end would've been if that lady hadn't responded to hearing his meowing, if your neighbour hadn't seen the lady's post about him, or not told you perhaps because they could've assumed you'd already seen the post yourself.

{{{{{{Hugs}}}}}} to both you, and your OH @DabDab

So sorry to hear that you've also lost your old cat @MurphysMinder , {{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}

Thank you all again for your exceptionally kind words, it's amazing how much of a comfort it is.

Yes this is completely it, the emotional rollercoster and circumstances have made this loss really hard. From the devastation of losing him and the stress of not knowing what happened to him, to the joy and miracle of him being found alive, to then losing him again 3 days later....it feels like he has died twice. And while we are hugely grateful that he didn't die alone on some random housing estate 3 miles away, and that he was home and warm and safe and with the people he knew, it still feels really rough.

My OH is struggling with the loss, as much as anything because Tiger was the cat that was always there, his continuity through some really awful times. Through the loss of multiple immediate family members and other pets Tiger was always there, the one he manahed to keep safe and healthy, as well as his connection to those lost through memories that included this cat.

But no matter how hardy, there's none of us that can outrun mortality. So we carry on. I think OH would like to rescue another cat who's had a rough time as a way of feeling like some good has come out of Tiger's passing if that makes sense? So we will see what transpires.

Sorry that you have also just lost a cat @MurphysMinder, I hope they went peacefully x

When the late King Kevin Kat was pts, I contacted my friend who has form for knowing about all the unwanted felines within a fifteen-mile radius and she came up with Madam Chatty Fatty Carrie Catty within a day. Children of one of her friends had wanted a puppy. Parents got them an expensive something small and yappy and put Madam CFCC in the box room.
Madam Cat arrived the following day and, quite reasonably, took a while to settle. She is now entirely in charge.
I've kept her as an indoor cat as we have random dogs on stretch leads being walked by equally random dog walkers. These dogs knew King Kevin Kat would attack them if they went for him, so they didn't.

My cat loves cheese and it would be nicely calorific if he'll eat some. Good strong gritty cheddar is her preference, she goes more wild for cheese that she does for Dreamies and she's bad enough with them. I hope you can get him eating DD.
Yes! Try cheese. Mine is really fussy but he does like cheese
He also went missing once and it’s awful.

So sorry I pounced on the cheese idea without reading the whole thread :(
