I'm trying to get my BHS exams done as quickly as possible, up to BHSAI and don't know what to do. I've just sat my stage 1 at Oaklands College near where I live and it was excellent, but the weeks of training felt like a real waste of time. I took my exam a month early. I'm now due to start stage 2 but the exam at Oaklands isn't until July! I'm worried that I'm faffing about wasting time on these lower stages when I'm going to need to take my time later when things get harder. Has anyone done these exams more quickly than the 2 years plus that seems to be the norm and what can you advise? Does anyone know of any good intensive courses of a week long or so? 7 months training for stage 2 seems like ages!

Can't you ask to start training towards your stage 3/PTT now? That way you will be getting ahead and will have a stronger foundation for your 2 as well.

Im looking to do 1, 2 and 3 in a year and i asked at the BHS stand at Burghly and teh lady said that this would be possible, so 7 months does seem long for stage 2!
I know of a 12 weeks intensive course at Wellington Riding, but its very very expensive and im not sure that included the BHS fees

might be worth looking at though

I know someone that did it in a couple of months by being willing to travel around. Depends if you want to take them all at the same place really.

Thanks for the replies! I looked into starting 2 and 3 at the same time but 3 is a year long course and starts in sept. The 3 exam is also a month before the 2 exam at my local college. I am quite happy to travel around for exams or for intensive training, I just can't seem to find anywhere. Although I'm reasonably confident about 2, I would need some 'refresher' training and would certainly need more for 3.
