So I done the standard bhs loan contract and I am down as carer for the horse and rider (along with my siblings) on the contract. I already allowed someone else to ride my loan and I have just realised in the future how serious could consequences be? Should I absolutely not allow this? I would hate to say no as I offered them to ride, it went smoothly but just in case could they sue considering they aren’t down as a rider on the contract and if they get injured could it go bad for me, what should I do?

When I entrust a horse to someone on full loan, I also entrust them to make the decision as to who can ride the horse, or not. So from me, it's "no problem, because if I didn't trust you to make decisions I'd probably agree with then you wouldn't have my horse anyway" !

When I loan out I assess the person who is going to ride it, if it is for X child, I have to make sure it's a good match, and it's stipulated what it is going to be used for. I don't like even older siblings riding them, as they often want to push the pony further than it's capable, even if it's willing, and if there is a problem I want it home, quick. I would be really cross, if I found out that it was being ridden by someone outside the family, and I would be collecting it the following day.
Why would anyone think this is acceptable, it's someone else's property.

I would have no problem with others riding the horse, if I didn't trust the judgement of the person wanting to loan the horse then the horse would not be there in the first place.
When you send a horse out on full loan you are putting the horse in the day to day care of others, why do it if you don't trust them?

It's not about trust, it's about my condition of the loan, and if they are not happy to accept those conditions, no loan. If they break those conditions they have broken the contract. I rent a room out in my house, it's rented out to one person, not that person and their mate or anyone else, and it's in the contract.

If your contract doesn't say whether other people can ride the horse, then check with the owner. Assuming they are fine with it, make sure that you are insured for public liability.

If I had a loaner for mine when I had a horse, I would only want the loaner riding him not all manner of random people who I may well not know and who probably won't have their own insurance
