Evening all!

Being completely stupid here but can't visualise anything...how big (in METRES) is a 'normal' show jump pole?

And does anyone have any good suppliers, other than Jump4Joy and the other one whos name has escaped me....?

normally 10 or 12 feet. in meters i have no idea..

I think 12 ft is the standard length but if they are for use in a school I would go slightly smaller, maybe 10 ft to give yourself more room.

ive looked at some which are 7 foot which im intrested in cause our arena isnt huge and i want them on the ground more than jumping (for now!)

they are £8 on ebay and ready to paint.... :)

for the wings... make them.

I find for an average sized arena 10ft poles work well (so 3.33333333333 meters), as it gives you enough room to fit everything all the jumps in, but the jumps arent 'skinnys'. In competition 12ft poles are usally used (so 4meters). Poles can get expensive if you get ready painted ones from a specialist company. I would phone your local timber merchant and ask if they have any, and paint them yourself, it doesn't take that long, and saves alot of £'s!

Totally mis-read this as 10-12ft for jump wings... was going to ask for lessons if that's what you school over! :D

yeah Polyjumps will be your other ones. They are generally 10 to 12 ft as everyone's said and you can usually get competition or training poles. The training poles are thinner and lighter and will be cheaper than the competition/heavier poles. Wooden poles are going to be cheaper and you can paint them yourself but you have to make sure you look after them and treat them/keep them undercover or they will end up rotting eventually.
