Can I enlist your help please guys?
The vet has just been to assess my mare and whether I could breed from her....and we can! Apparently, despite her age (she's 18), she has a wonderful cervix, good sized follicles and great vaginal conformation

Lots of compliments for my lady!
Anyway, I didn't want too look before we were given the all clear cos I knew I'd get myself all excited.

I'm wanting a stally that's between 15.3 and 16.2, poss 16.3 if it's something special, of the sportshorse variety. Not too fussed about bloodlines, more it's performance. Must be available through AI. And....call me a sheep if you like but I wouldn't mind if it was coloured

, but again not too fussed if it isn't!
Any spring to mind? I'm near Gloucester, and not wanting to travel huge distances. Thankies!!

You know, when I first read the header I was going to answer that there are donor banks for ladies who want to go it alone but perhaps more useful to post in soapbox

Good luck with your mare, I am glad too see that there is at least one VET who doesn't write off a mare because she is not a certain age.

It's not massively better. Have had a course of super strong anti-biotics, and now gone straight onto some weaker one's to try and scare the infection off, and failing that to keep it at bay until after my exams. Not painful now though

Thanks for asking!! X

Thanks guys! Have loads of options, it's mind boggling!!
Started looking at the first couple suggested and have got side tracked already!!
HorseGroupie - probably more eventing lines as that's my preferred 'stamp' of horse anyway, but in the end I want something that will turn it's hoof at anything... I have no desires for it to be a world beater!

He is absolutely LOVELY - all of their stallions have wonderful temprements and the stud is very friendly. I have my eye on a 3 year old by Wanninger, who I utterly fell in love with!

LOL! Sorry HuggyBear I missed your post before. I think if I wanted to have children now then I'd need to use a donor bank...although i have an able (and willing!) boyfriend there's no way he'd comply with actually having a sprog!

My vet is extremely enthusiastic about it... He's been trying to get me to put her into foal for a while now as she's such a lovely mare. He say's 18 is no age, even though she is a maiden

With the care available now mares are able to have foals alot later into life.

PLEASE keep us updated, nothing better than hearing new the pitter patter of tiny hooves to cheer you up.

Pretty Scrummy!!!

This is all moving so fast. Our vet reckons we could have her done on thursday if we wanted...thats the day after tomorrow!! I had a local stallion lined up, but he only does natural coverings

Apparently we're much more likely to be successful with AI, and at less stress to Tills.
Will be waiting for next time now, but with lots of men to view in the mean time!

Wooohoooo, congrats!!!

Goshka Ringo!!!!! He is stunning, guarantees coloured, has the most amazing temperament (owners kids ride him) and he is proven. My 2 mares are in-foal to him and Bananaman has the most stunning colt (Spider) by him.......

Spider is on the home page BTW and the stud is fantastic too. Kate and Tina are so so lovely and really were very kind to me when i had so many problems with my mares last year.

Oooh...didn't realise the gorgeous Spider was by him *drools* was only admiring his pics the other day!
It's good to know that you've had good experiences with them too.
And lucky you, not one but TWO little ones! When are they due?

I know he is so stunning! I'll be very happy if mine are half as stunning as Spider.

26th June and 11th July getting a bit nervous now

but very excited at the same time.

I wish you all the best with your mare, its a great experience but very stressful and expensive, lol.

Doubly expensive for those of us who are greedy!

Make sure you keep us posted, though I'm sure you will.
I'll need you to hold my hand through all of this...am planning to recruit others too, esp Becki2003 seeing as I think she was nearly as excited/terrified as I will be

What made you decide to leap in at the deep end and have two?
