Diva or Rosie (all the best mares are called either of those two!!!)
Zoe
Jenny - actually this is the first one that popped into my head when I saw the pic.

My black and white cat is called Piper. Piper is the Latin name for pepper which comes in black and white. Also film star Piper Laurie

She looks brave and confident in that pic, I think she needs a name to match. Someone has already suggested Hettie which sounds good. I'd like to add Talice to your list of options.

How do you refer to her at the moment OP? Nothing wrong with calling her something like Poppet or Sweetie if you already use a pet name to refer to her. Or does she just get called "the horse"? :p

That's a good idea but I have various pet names that I have used to all my horses over the years. I don't think I could use one of those as they have been used so often for so many horses.

At the moment she is either "Meredith's new mare" or "Little mare".

I really like Esme. Another name (which I think is Cornish like me!) is Teagan which means little girl. Hard to choose isn't it!

How about Mini then if she is "little mare" currently?

Will you let us know which name you choose?
There are often these sort of threads and we dont get to know the final choice.

Yes I will. I am going to leave it a week or so and mull over the suggestions and the links they have triggered in my mind.

I would go for May or Mae - as in Little Mae/May - similar to the nickname you have given her

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have a lot to think over.

I have been in touch with the Passport Authority and I can change her passport name. The new name will have the old name after it with something like "previously known as ".
This gives me so much more freedom of choice.

Please keep adding ideas as the more names the more it triggers a link to what may be THE name.

I promise I will tell you her stable name.
