So i am having such a big dilemma.

We are getting another dog.

And we can only have 1 more.

So here is my dilemma i have fallen in love with 2

The first we are going to see tomorrow who is a brittany spaniel 6 years old and a little sweety. I already have one Brittany, know how to handle them ect ect but the only thing that puts me off a little is she is 6 years old and my other brit and 8 years old is getting very "old".

The second we are going to see sunday. He is a Australian cattle dog mix with a sheltie. 1 years old and the shelter recommended him for me.
We have a big green area by our house where he can get plenty of exercise and i am use to high energy dogs but i am also worried that he is not going to people orientated and that i don't have much experience of the breed.

My heart says go for the cattle dog but my head says i should give the older brittany a chance at life.

Help?

I would be torn too! Not enough people give older dogs a chance, but this other guy sounds like fun.

However that sounds like a high octane mix and he has just turned one = the terrible teens for a big dog!

Good luck and let us know what you decide x

I would go for the brittany - but that is because I am a complete sucker for older dogs, they can give you a lot of heartache but I do adore having them around

And I particularly hate seeing them in rescues when they are older.

But good luck in making your choice, and make sure you post lots of pics when you have decided

Is soo hard i would love to have both but i know we can't.

I'm also hyper aware that the woman with the brittany can't seem to give me much info on the dog even though she claims she has had her from a pup.

I though the ACD was going to be big but we have seen him and he is really quite small which makes me wonder about the mix. no bigger, but fluffier than a springer.

I think my OH may have made the decision on the ACD and i have just called the lady that fosters brittany and asked her to get the dog out of the shelter and foster her out and if she still matches are family when she has calmed down in a foster home then i guess we will be taking her aswell once we have moved.

Damn my love for the sad puppy eyes!

I too would go for the younger, u are experienced and can offer that puppy a new life and manage it better than most other that will just see a cute pup and want it......I think the older dog will get a home, esp being a pedigree and lots of people believe it or not want to take on older quieter dogs, we never have the oldies in very long.

Thats kind of what i am feeling.
I know a lot of people will underestimate the puppy and it could end up in the wrong hands.

Oh well here goes nothing.

Welcome me to the world of puppy owning again.
Going to pick him up sunday, he is incredibly beautiful.

Don't give me any trait info now until i get him cause i will freak out that i am getting the one type of dog i never thought i would get!

I promise pictures when we get him i'm afraid the big brute at the shelter may tell me off if i put them here before he is in my clutches.
