Hi everyone

I'm having hell trying to sell my stunning 18" Ideal Suzanna (1650) Dressage saddle (black in MW)!!!

Its on the BD website & local riding clubs newsletters at the moment, I've had a quote from local saddlers and saddles direct but they've all said that they will take it for a lot less than its worth (typical!).

Does anyone else have any ideas? Ebay is a common one I know but not a lot seems to be selling on there right now?

Help?

Well someone was asking after one recently so I suppose advertising it on here was quite a good idea. How much do you want for it?

You can advertise as a private seller on SaddlesDirect for about a tenner - I put my jumping saddle on there and it was sold within a couple of weeks. You can also try the British Dressage classifieds as that's free too and likely to reach your target market :D

Well that is probably why it's not selling. You can buy a brand new one with two fitting visits for £945.

I've just obtained an Ideal saddle, that can only have been used a dozen times from the look of it, complete with nice girth, fancy stirrups and leathers, for considerably under half of the new price of the saddle alone.

Sorry.

They are selling on ebay but not at high prices.

i doubt you will get anywhere near that price- more realistic would be £400ish.

i have just sold 3 x saddles on eBay, all got decent prices.

very happy and the fees weren't too bad as i put them on without reserve.

I have just PMed you, im looking for exactly the saddle your selling.

But i have a fitting with a lady today not for an Ideal for lots of makes. So i can't say yey or nay until later today:).

The new Suzannah's are selling for £1200 + fitting in my area? I'd like to know where you get yours from?? In fact I bought mine for £1200 2 & 1/2 years ago brand new?

I'm suprised as Saddles direct have quoted me more than that and said that I should expect £600+ for private sales? Or maybe they are ambitious?

:S

Nice to know that eBay saddles are selling - every time I look there arent that many being bid on... :)

saddles attract a lot of last minute bidding on eBay... if you want to see how much things have sold for, you can do a more detailed search and only look at completed listings. :)

Completed listings for a search on "ideal dressage saddle": clicky clicky

They are selling - but not for a high price. There are no Suzannah's in the list, there are currently two listings on ebay for a higher price than you are asking so one of two courses of action would seem obvious. Either stick it on for what you want now and hope that anyone interested in the others will buy yours because a) it's cheaper or b) they don't have to wait six weeks for their brand new saddle to be made or wait until you see whether they sell and then pitch your price to match. I'd be tempted to go for the first option if I wanted a quick sale (but remember you will lose around 10% in fees).
