can anyone give me any advice on how to steady my horse up. he is rising 6, 15hh trotter cross. i have had him since a day old and bought him from travellers. i broke him myself and have done the best i can with the minimal experience i have. i have him in a snaffle bridle, treeless saddle (solutions saddle) and he is on the new simple systems feeding so all natural. when i take him out he walks really fast like a man on speed and it so jumpy and snorting at things. he is a total nightmare. ppl from the ground think wow he looks nice and how nice it is not to leg him but to be honest its nice for about 5 mins then u have a stitch and are begging just to walk at a normal cace and not like something is gonna jump out the bush and eat u. anyway walk is the least of my worries cos the trot is 100 times worse. u ask him to trot and u go from 5mph to 100mph and he leaves u behind. i try using my seat but he just so bouncy i really struggle. if i manage to sit deep and not let him rush he ok but then he will speed up after a while and i just cant control him. half half, ha what are they, i try but he just laffs at me. he rushes off so fast i end up water skiing. i need to work out how to steady him up without having to pull on the reins as i hate doing it but its the only thing that works at the moment. canter wel thats gorgeous he is like a rocking horse. i think cos he is bred to trot as soon as u ask him he rushes and boy that horse can trot. any advice would be much appreciated. added pics so u can see what he like
