I am in the Midlands and the horse is in Newport, Gwent. I was planning to wait until the spring but came accross this percheron x he is advertised as bombroof, weight carrier, suitable for whole family, great with novices, never put a foot wrong, good in all ways, for sale due to financial reasons, bought to teach husband to ride, husband is poorly (or lost interest)now horse getting fat, overweight. Owner sounds genuine, she has owned him for a year, bought from man whos father was a breeder, so 2 owners.

I am wondering should I take a trip to Newport at the weekend, would those of you with a keen eye take a look, All I want is bombroof happy hacker for a forever home.

(Before you ask the horse is 5 ..... I know, far too young I have read the arguments for and against.)

Wine & Chocolates for you all later.

If you like him go and see him.
Just because he's 5 doesn't mean he's far too young. I had a break from horses for ten years and then bought an unbacked 3 year old who has been super safe and I trust her 100%

If you like the look of him then of course go and see him - no harm in trying him.
I am naturally suspicious though and the questions I would be asking - why is he being ridden in a dutch gag with 2 reins? Is he strong? Why does the video only show him on one rein? Is he unable to do circles on the left rein? Is he as calm when ridden outside?

All these questions/suspicions may be unfounded - but then again....

The you tube videos were not sent to me, I "found" them on the internet the seller has not mentioned them.

Thank you so much, comments are most helpful.

I would also ask why he is being ridden in knee boots indoors - would suggest to me that he is prone to falling?

Have just seen the video of him working on the other rein - he even has a little canter bless him :)
He does look a sweet, gentle giant... but I'd still tread with caution - maybe it's just me :D
