Help with scab that won’t heal

Tea tree - there is a plant that burns the skin and causes it to continue to kind of burn - over and over and over. Tea tree neutralises it. This is my experience rather than scientific knowledge, but I always whack tea tree on anything suspicious just in case!

Or could be it has a thorn or something stuck in it?

I had a cut like this on a fetlock, eventually srubbed it with diluted hibisciscrub washed it off, then stood him in the river for 10 min.
After that it started to heal, I think it either had something in it, possibly tiny but just enough to irritate, or a minor infection but it seemed to sort out what ever the issues was. Healed fairly quickly after that.

*by scrub I mean sponged firmly. I value my head/life 😅

Good luck! Just thought, we had a mare that had a wound above her eye that did the same thing. Turned out there was a piece of a tree branch stuck in her head that was trying to work its way out. Took a lip chain and some careful work by the vet with a scalpel and a set of pliers to get it out. Healed up in a couple of weeks after.
Is this a possibility? Even just a tiny piece of something

😂 thanks I really can’t see anything in it, plus it’s been months you’d think if it was infected she would be lame or have heat in it or something? So odd x
It hadn't been months but had been a good 6 weeks.

The only reason I thought infection was because it was so oozey and a bit yellow. Agree that real infection should have cause heat etc but I did wonder if it was a very low grade, skin level thing? 💁‍♀️

Anyway, please let us know what the vet says. Be good for future reference.

Will do x

I know you said no to CPL but it sounds exactly like a CPL scab to me. If your already on some of those groups I’d post a pic on there and see what they say

Yes I am wondering that…I will definitely mention it to the vet. She doesn’t have any other signs really of CPL but I’ll see what she says as some of those treatments may help? Oddly enough it’s not got worse and she doesn’t have any other scabs which would make me think it’s not CPL…I know it can make healing tricky though. She had another cut on another leg that healed fine though. Mystery!
