So my aunt has split up with her OH and has come to stay with us for a few days. Now she's brought her puppy a JRT (the one we recommended that she didn't get as she can't look after it- see other post). Puppy isn't house trained, crate trained and has never been socialised with other animals.

My problem is that my dogs don't get on with her (my bitch has very firmly put her in her place several times today) nor do my new cats who have only just been introduced to dogs. My bitch sleeps in a crate (she can get through the cat flap) and the dog has run of the kitchen with the cats. The puppy can also get through the cat flap, isn't house trained and doesn't get on with the dog or the cats so can't be loose in the kitchen or any other room as they're all carpeted. The only other crate type thing we have is the cat carrier which I think is too small for the puppy to sleep in.

I'm not prepared to fork out £50 that I don't have on a crate for a puppy my aunt isn't even sure she will keep.... So how can I make this work??

Jaffa cakes if you made it this far :D

Would your bitch be ok out of the crate so u can put the little critter in hers.

Otherwise maybe a trip to argos, I think a cage for a j.r.t will only be about £25, and your aunty should be forking out for it.

Thanks for the reply unfortunately my bitch will get out the cat flap and irritate the neighbors with her barking and does tend to chew furniture if left in one of the other rooms all night. She doesn't have any money apparently. I wouldn't have minded as much but her OH took the other puppy with him (why he couldn't take both I don't know)

We did make a trip to Pets at Home but they said their smallest one was £50 all the other pet shops were closed. Will deffinately need some sort of crate if the pup is staying more than 1 night. It's just gone for the cats again so not happy!

Argh pups now peed everywhere including my dads shoes (aunt can't clean it up as she can't bend down far enough without loosing balance) and has decided to yet again have a go at my bitch who looks about ready to do serious harm to her. But my aunt knows best (pups only playing  ) and refuses to keep the pup separate.

Pup will be in the cat carrier tonight (she howls like mad when in it so a sleepless night for all :( )

If my aunt didn't shreek every time the big dogs 'sorted' pup out she might already know it  Currently wondering how long it will be before pup irritates my aunt enough for her to thob pup onto us or try selling it (it has very shoddy breeding which shows in pups odd looks think aunt paid £160 for it. Very over priced)

Don't know where abouts you are in the country, but I have a load of spare crates, of all sorts of sizes & shapes. If you are anywhere near me you are welcome to have one, just msg me. I know the feeling, a friend came to stay when she split up with her OH & yes, the mad unsocialised dog came too! It was difficult with my happy settled pack, and a whirling dervish that had no idea of manners or behaviour.

Good luck:)

Stroppy_mare73 - Thanks for the kind offer :) mum went to Focus today and got one. Hopefully we'll have cleaned up all the broken glass, dog wee/poo etc from her house and she'll move back tonight/tomorrow with the pup.

Poor wee puppy to have such a rotten owner, dogs are for life, not just some momentary whim to follow up.None of this is the puppy`s fault n..and it is in need of a decent owner.
