Thanks to the wonderful people on here and at Hope Pastures the little guy who Wonkey Donkey found galloping down a main road in Peterborough is now safe in his new home.

Wonkey Donkey. Becca and Yeeharider successfully ran a relay from Peterborough to Leeds today. Due to a minor hiccup at Clumber he arrived a little late, but totally happy and unstressed.

And thanks also to everyone on here he now has a name, Cracker :D

I hadn't realised how tiny he is, but he looks healthy enough and loved his new stable at Hope Pastures. First thing he did was recreate Wonkey Donkeys original picture and had a pee :D

I'm afraid as he arrived late there was only me with an iphone and clueless to take the pics. Here are three.

First posing with Yeeharider and her other half (see how little he is)

The others are enjoying his new home. He went straight for the bucket and the haylage net.

Will get some more pics later. Once again thanks to everyone who cared what happened to this little man at Christmas.

Shame I didn't get to meet him today, I bet he's pooped after his busy day, although I'm sure that won't get in the way of the important business of eating :)

Great name too :)

Awwwww yay :D :D
He's adorable, will Hope Pastures rehome him or will he stay there?

He's a lucky lad, thank you everyone who helped and especially the people who relayed him there today, you're stars :)

Hi everyone just on my phone so not a long reply but just to update you about what will happen now. We will be getting the vet out to him next week once he's settled a bit and xmas is out of the way and then go from there, find out more about whether he is a rig or not and his age etc and see what we can do. If he is healthy etc and a stallion we'll get him gelded and then look to find him a permanent loan home.

The sanctuary is open everyday between 10am and 3pm so people are welcome then to visit. Not to sound cheeky but we've taken a lot of rescues on as emergencies lately and this little guy will be another strain on our resources so if anybody else wants to help donations would be greatly appreciated. We are currently over full!!

Thanks to all those who have supported us so far and to those who have played a big part in rescuing and transporting Cracker.

We will keep you updated on his progress and I'll get more pictures when I'm next at work.

Amy :)

That's fantastic news. A really good end to 2011. There's another unwanted pony safe off the streets. Good on everyone who helped! :)!

Glad to hear he's settling in well.
I managed to take a few pics of the little lad in the lorry but currently having technical difficulties uploading! None of them are brilliant. I was hoping to get some pics of him having his grazing and rolls in the park but unfortunately since gran was off on a toilet hunt and mum was desperately searching for mobile phone signal to ring yeeharider with, there was no-one to hold pony whilst I took some photos :(.

He is a proper little Cracker so I think that name really suits him and has the christmas link :p :). He's clearly been loved at some point in the past; every time a group of kids went past his ears pricked up and sometimes he whinnied and tried to go to them (but never did more than tug a little a couple of times at the lead rope). He also enjoyed a full body groom (but his roll afterwards even more :p), and was an absolute angel with a toddler who came over to see him with her grandad. He didn't put a foot wrong throughout his entire journey we never heard a peep except for one whinny, and he loaded beautifully each time as soon as the lunge lines appeared :p :D.

Once again thank you to the charity for taking him on :) and I can't imagine you will have any difficulty rehoming such a sweetheart once he has been all sorted out :).

Thats lovely, looking forward to the pics. It was dark when he arrived at Leeds so I couldn't get one of him coming off the wagon.

He did seem as though he had been very well handled and has obviously travelled before. I wonder how such a little sweetie ended up like he did.

First thing I thought when I caught him (after seeing him bombing up the middle of the road in extended trot) was that he would make a smashing driving pony :)

Well all you need to do is catch a matching one and we could do the pairs scurry. I love watching it, you could imaging the little lad bombing round the ring :D :D

Well done everyone, I'm sure he's very grateful for all your efforts! Good luck to him and I hope he has another 'crack' at life and lives a very happy and long one. Great ending!
