The true meaning of Christmas for me was following the threads about Cracker and realising there are still lots of good people out there doing wonderful things like this. A massive well done to all of you for giving this sweet little pony a new beginning.

Thank you, they will need every penny for his vets bills to become "the baubleless one" :D

Rubysgold, did you volunteer today, he was in the new stables, last box on the right, the one who can only just reach to put his nose over the door. His box is so big he can probably canter round it :D

glad to hear he's got a lovely big stable. He deserves spoiling bless him :). I need to remember to make a donation as I was going to send the lad off with a few bags of chaff but couldn't as didn't have any in the feed bin and the tack shop was closed over xmas. Did the charity manage to make use of the blue head collar and lead rope set I sent with him? I had hoped it would be suitable for him as its much too small for any of my lot to be of use, but he's so dinky it was miles to big for him :p :D. I assumed it would fit one of the horses at the charity anyway :).

I didn't help, couldn't find anyone to ask if i was needed, so we just went for a look round.
He was let loose in the yard when i saw him, (if it was him) talking to a coloured over the door, both only just big enough to get noses over doors lol.

Thats a shame, I will PM Amys number to you. Or you could PM your number to her Marzipan12. They definately need help, I think Amy was back at her 9-5 job today.

I know! I was the same I mean I know 10hands is small but until he's actually next to you and only comes up to the top of your thigh you don't realise how small! :p. My smallest one is 15.2hh so it was quite a shock! but a very nice one :D

Rockysmum, do you work/volunteer there?

No I'm afraid not. I have a full time job, 3 horses and I have just moved house, so no time.

Amy works part time there, has a full time job and did ride one of my horses, which was why I had her phone number. She's a workaholic :D

Sophie runs Hope Pastures with the help of Amy, the trustees and volunteers, which is a huge job. She might have been short of staff today which might be why you couldn't find anyone.

I'm getting too old to be much practical help but I would like to raise money for them, help with transport etc, when I get my life and job sorted :D

Aww, lovely story. Not been to Hope Pastures for years since I adopted a pony there as a kid. He was called Houdini! May have to take a trip down as often wonder how the place is doing now. Well done to everyone who helped rescue this little one. His circumstances do sound quite odd though, makes you wonder if he was a stolen pony who has escaped or been 'let go'.

Lovely pics Becca, he does have a sweet little face :D :D

I did wonder how he ended up where he did. But you would think if he had been stolen someone would have reported it to the police and Wonkey Donkey would have heard. Also there have been enough pics and interest on here that it would have rung a bell with someone if his owners had been looking for him.

Whoever it was didn't deserve him, whether they lost him, turned him loose or just didn't look hard enough. If he had been mine I would never have stopped looking.

Thanks to the wonderful people on here and at Hope Pastures the little guy who Wonkey Donkey found galloping down a main road in Peterborough is now safe in his new home.

Wonkey Donkey. Becca and Yeeharider successfully ran a relay from Peterborough to Leeds today. Due to a minor hiccup at Clumber he arrived a little late, but totally happy and unstressed.

And thanks also to everyone on here he now has a name, Cracker :D

I hadn't realised how tiny he is, but he looks healthy enough and loved his new stable at Hope Pastures. First thing he did was recreate Wonkey Donkeys original picture and had a pee :D

I'm afraid as he arrived late there was only me with an iphone and clueless to take the pics. Here are three.

First posing with Yeeharider and her other half (see how little he is)

The others are enjoying his new home. He went straight for the bucket and the haylage net.

Will get some more pics later. Once again thanks to everyone who cared what happened to this little man at Christmas.

In all fairness though rockysmum its the awareness which will raise the most funds for the charity and so will be the most help for little crackajack in the long run which is mainly down to you :).

I would also like to say we werent short of offers of transport to get this little laddy to sanctuary which was fantastic :). I know many would have loved to help if they were nearer and I honestly believe we could have got him from cornwall to the top of scotland (with a few days hols for him on the way!) just through the caring people on this forum :). So thanks to all for offers of help and donations to the charity Hope Pastures which Im sure are more than gratefully recieved :)

I should say though of course wonkey_donkey has done the most for this little lad, initially rescuing him, finding him a temporary home, trying to find him a charity/new home, and transporting the little lad on his first leg to swap over with me, all whilst she worked over christmas! The little lad was very lucky she came across him :)

Cracker is doing very well. I will get pictures on Saturday when I'm back at Hope Pastures and update you a bit more then. The vet is out Tuesday so I'm sure we'll be able to tell you a lot more next week.

Thanks to everyone who helped prevent what would have been such a senseless waste of life, we're hoping to find a loving forever home for this little guy.

I'm coming to see him again on Saturday :D

Poor little guy has no idea what is in store for him on Tuesday. Has the vet given a price for his operation or will it depend on what they find.

Do you have any idea how long it will be before he can be found a loan home. Although he is so cute its a shame he cant stay and be one of the adoption scheme ponies. I suppose it would be a bit of a waste as I'm sure he can be found a home.

Depends what the vet finds, from what Sophie was saying it sounds like he isn't a rig, but we shall see what happens.

It would be a waste keeping him on the adoption scheme, thats really only for our old or ill ones. Sophie was saying he is an absolute star and perfect to handle so he will make a nice little pony for someone so hopefully once he has calmed down etc and had all the necessary done to him, we will advertise him.

We have so many available for rehoming or coming up for rehoming shortly, I'm hoping they all generate some interest soon.

Really good news if its a simply operation, not the more complicated one if he was a rig.

He's so nice even as a stallion that I am sure he will be a fabulous kids pony when he has been gelded.

Do you have anyone small enough to ride him, assuming he has been broken in, to assess what he has done.
