He's gone, probably the worst day of my life!

Huge ((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) - I'm speechless. I have always admired Koko, he was such a totally stunning boy. My heart goes out to you.

Thank you for your sympathy everyone. I did the hard task of cleaning out his stable this morning and to make it worse I had all the liveries coming up and hugging me, I know they mean well but it does make it worse!

I might be having one of my instructors horses over the winter to have some fun on and then I'll start looking in the spring. I have a list the length of my arm of people offering me horses to ride. My livery yard has miraclosly turned into a nice place!

I'm off out on a hack this afternoon on Koko's field buddy with a couple of friends so I'm looking forward to this.

I am so so so sorry. RIP Koko, run free. Hugs to you, if you ever want to chat, PM me, I lost D is a terrible accident at just 8 years old, and my whole world fell apart. So if you want some one to talk too, I am all ears. *hugs*

So sorry you've lost your boy to this terrible disease. Unfortunately the mortality rate is over 90% at the moment, so when I read your first post I had a feeling it would not be good news, although I was hoping he would be one of the ones who pull through.

I've seen a case a few years ago and it's horrendous- the sooner we get more info on what it's all about the better x

So so sorry to hear this..I just read your other thread :(

That's terrifying. I think letting him be used for research is extremely brave and generous of you though, wanted to mention that.

RIP Koko :(

I've just caught up reading your posts, and Iam truely sorry for your loss.
I hope Koko will do his thing and help others, and for that, and the memories his star is still shining, you can see it but its just out of reach.
Well done on clearing out his stable - a situation no one likes. Also pleased you are having a ride this afternoon, hope you enjoyed it, lovely and sunny down here!!

Hugs

ETS, I hope your field is getting a sample taken, just for peace of mind. Are horses still being grazed on it?

I had a lovely ride thank you except for some idiot dog owner.

Nope the other horse grazed in the field has been taken off and is having bloods done just in case, the YO is also having a sample taken to check but he said he most likey won't use it for horses again as there was another case 4 years ago before we moved up there in the same paddock!

Just thought I'd update everyone...

Got in touch with insurance today and were hopefully going to get just under £5000 so we should be able to get something for that. But on the downside I can't bare to look at adverts yet let alone go and look at a horse!

We also managed to take back a lot of new rugs and stuff which we bought last week and got refunded which was very nice of the shop.

The YO has got in touch with the vet to get samples done of the ground and the other horse in the paddock is getting blood tested but unfortuantly has no field atm so is in the sick field.

Koko's old owner who had him since he was 3 months old got in touch today and we're going to send her one of his shoes, we have the other one and were going to make a little display for him in the study :)

Thank you again for all the support everyone has given on here, it really does help as I know a lot of you have been through similar things so you understand!

Whata stunning horse! What a great waiste sorry I'm no help I can not begin to imagine how you must feel you must bear a great pain so very very sorry xx

Can't believe how brave you're being - You gave him a wonderful life and loved him to bits - he couldn't have asked for more. Keep positive and I really hope you find another one to love as much when you are ready

So sorry for your loss and what a horrible shock for him to fall so ill so fast. I had never heard of this disease before, it sounds horrific. Poor Koko, he was lucky to have been so well loved though, he would have known how special he was.

hugs xxxx
