So, so happy this evening. Picked GreyDonkey up at lunch time. He loaded and travelled beautifully (but then he always does). Was so happy to be back in his own stable that he had a massive, snorty roll and then tucked into his haynet with gusto. I left him bandaged, rugged up and tucking into his tea. Surgeon's coming tomorrow to do a bandage change and we'll discuss his rehab in detail then.

For now, I'm just relieved to have him back . . . safe and sound. I missed the grumpy little so-and-so.

Oh, and the horse I asked you to send HHO vibes for . . . hairline fracture of the pedal bone - no surgery required, lots of box rest and bar shoes . . . phew.

So thank you.

Excellent! Just wondering, was the horse that injured him one of the ones belonging to the liveries you were having trouble with and who accused your horse of being a danger?

I am pleased he is home:) and hope you have an easier time with him than I am at the moment with mine, one week after arriving home after surgery he is still not drinking properly:(, although bright in himself, more stress now than before the op.

Oh no, that's not good . . . fingers crossed your boy recovers properly - what does the vet say?

Good news!

Tell me though, how did he manage to hurt the other horse while away at the horsepital? It shows how dangerous he is, IMO, that he can still injure other horses from many miles away...

(I can't do smileys but that is tongue in cheek!).

Thanks all . . . he's been a bit of a worry for the past year all told . . . unexplained lameness led to a navicular diagnosis, then he got his foot tangled in some barbed wire out on the gallops and then we had three months of trying to shift a stubborn bacterial skin infection . . . then this. Fingers' crossed that this is the last time we see the vet for anything other than jabs this year ;).

Will post some pics of the patient when I get back from the yard this morning.

P.S. The very kind friend who is schooling him for me did remind me that he was so sound before this accident/injury that we'd pretty much forgotten about the navicular . . . so fingers crossed we get to that point again ;)
