HHO i would like your help please

That's what I thought Forester. I'm between Portsmouth and Southampton and I can name about 4 or 5 but as has been said before one or two of them are not reliable or good farriers.

I have a new guy and he is very good, takes time to explain things and gives me choices (a first!) - just takes a bit too long for my fidgety mares liking

Aberdeenshire

I would say a definite shortage plus I agree wholeheartedly with the comment that they don't seem to care about your custom as they know we need them more than they need us.

There is a new guy that's started up here but he's mega expensive. Meant to be very good though.

Kent/Sussex there is a shortage. The horse I had in shoes has gone on loan now, but the farrier came from about 20 miles away so I always had to wait about a week if she lost a shoe

It was that, or go with a not-so-good farrier.

My other horse is trimmed by a DAEP who comes from Hampshire, at least 50 miles I think! Any farrier looking for work (and I find that hard to believe) could train in KC LaPierre trimming too, and they would never be out of work. In fact many do.

Surrey/W Sussex border - think there are plenty around (there's certainly enough horses!!) though not sure of standard. I've used a couple I wasn't impressed with and the farrier I use now, who is excellent, comes out from Newbury.

I'm quite close to Taffyhorse, I think and there are lots of farriers round here. Agree about not being sure of standard. I went through quite a few. Mine comes from Billingshurst!

Surrey/Hants border- There isnt too many farriers this way, and even less that are any good!
I looked long and hard before i found mine, and he is worth his weight in gold!!!
Those that are any good tend to not be taking new clients on now.
