HHOers that have helped you out?

When my young pony died suddenly this year, I took a lot of comfort from the replies on here..Both the sympathetic but also being told that there was nothing I had done wrong.

Stand out for me has to be AML. She doesn't post a lot, and I hadn't come across her - until she quietly offered to collect Spike from Liphook for me after his big horrible colic earlier this year. She didn't make a big song and dance out of it on the forum - just pm'd me, came over from deepest darkest Hampshire to pick him up, drove him home to Berkshire, refused to take a penny for fuel, and then off she went. It was a massively stressful time for me, and I was exhausted after a week of hourly checks through the night - her kindness was hugely appreciated.
What an absolute angel, the world is a better place because of people like that :)

_GG_ is a star - she's been really kind to me and I think if awards were being given for HHOer of the year she should win one.

There are loads of people on here who go the extra mile, and I think it just goes to show what great people horsey people are. This board is brilliant for bringing us all together. As someone who is alone on her yard (love it!) it's really great to be able to swap stories, discuss issues affecting the horsey world, ask for advice, and offer help if possible. It means I'm not really so alone! There must be others who feel this as well, I can't be the only one.

Oh there's a few and lots more friends! Rara007, LizzieJ, Persephone all helped out during a particularly arduous time, Rara has provided me with the opportunity to go and camp at driving events and LizzieJ is extremely generous and I think at least half my hunting stuff is still hers! - boots, shirt, lightweight tweed at least. She is also the reason I have an iphone :p but I think that was just because she wanted me on the net more :p oh and she saved us from a cold death on Exmoor one dark night. Santa_Claus has taken some fabulous arty shots of Frank recently and delivered a sofa to my old flat as a housewarming from Rara, LizzieJ, Humbugsey, Teapot, Willeeckers (think I've remembered them all!) and I would never had camped at badminton 4 years on the trot without hho!

CPTrayes and others have always been on the end of a PM for hoof help _GG_ feeds me amazing cake, pulled pork, stuffed jackets... etc etc, and provides collie time :D.

I have had so much help and advice. When I joined 3 years ago I was considering getting a pony for my kids.... I had been out of horses for years and felt utterly rusty.

I have learned so much from the lovely souls on here who are so generous with their knowledge and experience. It's the first place I turn to for sensible advice, on pretty much anything, not just horses!

You are a wonderful bunch. x

ive made some amazing real life friends from this forum, some have been there emotionally when i was a mess, some have come and got me to a safe place when i had a violent x, one even offered to help me out with a car purchase when i was struggling to get my self straight.
theres a couple of other people on here i know from another forum in real life and again they have become very close friends.

this place over the past 6/7 years has seen me make friends, purchase two horses, and of course then there was the amersham horse rescue i was involved in, and in the dark days there was the truth or dare thread, and thebar threads.

its funny, my x husband used to moan about the time i spent on here, but when you read the above it really is a bit more than just a "chat room".

I was very lucky to meet the people on here that I did. I'm ashamed that I haven't really kept in contact as once prince was put to sleep I lost alot of my love for horses. Things just didn't seem fair so I sold my other horse and left the forum. So in no particular order.

Amymay for keeping at me to do something and ensure it was done correctly.
MrsMozart for sending over reach boots and paying for his dental costs.
Goldenstar and tobiano for paying for veterinary care, food, farriery and general loving on.
Bestdogdash for some much needed rugs, advice and offers of help.
Holding for the masses of things she gave to him from her tack shop, it really helped in the first few days.
And cbmcts who came to see me and Prince and gave us both hugs (and me cigarettes) when the vet explained everything.
And everyone who commented with advice, offers or just kind words, I needed them so much.

Without all of these people's contribution prince may have died cold, alone and wet without ever knowing love.

(If I have forgotten you please do not take offence, I cannot access my old account and it's early)

Oh bless you. You did so much for Prince. Shedding a tear for you both, and sending hugs. xxx

Sorry to bring this back up but it's the first chance I've had to read all of the replies. There are some really kind stories on here and evidently really lovely people behind the usernames. Thanks for sharing - the replies were very heart-warming.

I hope one day I make it to a HHO meet up :)
