Afternoon everyone,

Apologies for taking some time out from this forum. As some of you know I had to make the awful decision to say goodbye to my mare and needed some space away to deal with it. I got ever so down after it happened and my partner said I need to move on and "get back in the saddle."

I don't want to go into the detail about it all but I will say it was peaceful and I know I made the right decision.

I have been out looking for another horsey over the last few days. I feel ready and its feels good and exciting. I didn't think I would be ready so soon but I miss the equestrian world so much I had to start all over again.

I think I might have found something that is perfect. He is a Cob in his late teens, very cheeky on the ground but a dream to ride. His owner has him on loan from a rescue place because he was too bolshy for the previous owner. I agree he is but he does make me laugh. He just dives for grass and anything that looks like food. I know he shouldn't do that but he has cheered my up no end. Riding him is brilliant, I feel ever so safe. I want him for myself but thought I would loan for a while to make sure he's right.

I really want him as my own though and not just to ride a couple of times a week!!!!! Is it too soon? am I too keen?? (obviously the charity never release ownership but loaning from a place like that is as good as owning.) The Owner has loads of horses as her own and I am hoping, if it works out, she will let me have him :)

Hi MA

Glad you are back on board, it would be nice if you could make this boy your own - he sounds like he makes you very happy :)

He really really does. i can't stop thinking about him. He's such a dream to ride, so different to my very highly strung late TB mare bless her. Do you think the owner might get a bit put off if I am too keen!?

For me, keenness is never something that puts me off a person (dealing with sharers) it's people who are apathetic that really irk me!! :)

i just dont want her to think I am taking him away from her. It sounds a bit silly when I read that back to myself but he is super. She said she had only ridden im twice this yr. He doesnt get ridden usually but sometimes her friends come up and ride him. I dont want them to!

Hahah you are sweet, so let me get this right, he's her loan horse from a charity yeah? If so, would you have to get her permission to take him on and then the charities? No harm in asking, tell her how you feel about him and how much you enjoy riding and being around him and see what she says, at worse I'd be flattered and heartened that someone loved my horse as much - at best, she might say yes :)

I could ask but if she said no (albeit in the nicest possible way) I would be totally gutted :( I didnt expect to feel like this. At the moment its a 2 day per week arrangement but I want to see him every day. how silly!

I don't think it's silly!
The time is obviusly right for you to get back in the saddle, and you have found the horse for you, which is a miracle in such a short time.
You have been bitten by the bug and twice a week is not anough for you, you need more, that is very understandable.
I am just getting my nerve back after a fall last summer, i went out this morning for a ride with a friend, i am now sitting here wondering if it would be meen to take the pony out again later. :D
So i kinda know how you feel. :D

Woohoo well done Fii!! Congratulations on getting your nerve back. Its not mean at all. I spent 30 mins on my new boy today - just wanted to get off and look at him :) How sad hahaha!

Sorry for the personal question Mrs Mozart but what's the focus on the weight monitor ticker thingy?

I am getting married in Feb and need to fit into a rather small wedding dress. My diet is going really well! Are you on a diet for something?
