Hi Wither, Semi-Dead Sheep, Pretty Coloured Numnah/Saddlecloth?

Sorry, no help but loving the semi-dead sheep bit. Arguably all sheep are semi-dead though as it is the ambition of every sheep to die as soon as possible in a manner no other sheep has yet thought of.

btw, what do you call a nice colour? Not neutral or natural shades I suppose?

Roflmao - I really should proof read my posts :D:eek::rolleyes::D

'A nice colour' - something pretty. It's for my chestnut mare (I feel a gratuitous picture coming up...)

Not the best picture, but Photobucket didn't want to load. This one shows her ccolouring though :D

Nummed, they come in my favourtie pretty colours, black, white and if I'm feeling racy, brown! :D

It always amuses me to see profile pics of you and D1, you are SO alike:)

I may have just spotted a niche in the market here. Velcro in liners in exciting colours:D

I'm on to potential suppliers as we speak:D and have several designs up my sleeve (well you know what I mean, on the drawing board!)

I reckon I should be able to knock out two numnahs in assorted toney toney colours with a sheep liner and matching bandages for around a hundred quid:)

I too use the Nuumed Hi wither half dead sheep variety and am shamelessly in the market for some matchy matchy too. I too alternate between brown and black depending on my mood but it's hardly satisfactory!. I checked Nuumed's custom made but it seems to be about the cut and not the colour. Maybe we should start a pressure group?

I have a lovely Lemieux merino pad in a subtle grey! (full pad but only half fleece).I'm not a dead sheep fan, semi or otherwise, but like this one. I don't understand the half pad thing though. Either I've seen the half pad over the matchy saddlecloth, which negates the technical benefits if the sheepskin, or as they all seem to be rolled at the edges, wearing it under the saddle pad surely creates a ridge?

I think (not seen in the flesh), but the one NM found has soft edges, therefore minimising any 'edge' feeling to the horse.

I don't do the half pad thingies as the Dizz is so sensitive. Used to worry me, but she's been checked over numerous times and so far(!) her back is okay. Though at the moment she has a one-sided shoulder pocket that is a bit light on muscle.

Will go look at Lemieux - usually D1 gets those and I get whatever is going in the cheap bin...

That looks like a useful beastie :D Thank you :D

Wonder how it stays flat/in place. The Dizz is not reknown for her patience with her saddles/cloths/fittings (humps like a lizard on speed ).

I was also going to mention the eskadron dead sheep pad. Brilliant piece of kit and so simple. Only thing is it is not the "spine free" type but as it is not too thick does not seem to cause any problems.

Really easy to fit, place it fluffy side down on neddies back, chuck chosen saddle pad/cloth over the top. There is a little plastic loop on either side of the wither on the skin backing that you thread the saddle cloth velcro strap through which stops any movement. As simple as that. Fleece in front of the pad/cloth folds over giving the fluffy front. Not perhaps the best description of how it works but hope it helps.

You explained it far better than the reply I had typed out :D

There are plastic keeper type doobers that you thread the saddle pad tabs through (and then onto your girth strap/D ring) which stops any dead sheepy wriggling!

Ooh, now that sounds interesting :D Thank you :D

I have a feeling the old bank balance is going to be feeling a bit battered :D :D

If its any help I have Mattes saddlecloths still going strong 9 years down the line, pricey but oh so worth it! However one complaint missus I may be tempted by some of their saddlecloths having looked at their website for you ...... ;)

What about: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...a.103716839725125.7590.100002604285632&type=1

Eskadron lambskin half pad? You can tuck the sheepy under any saddle pad, so no 'what colour to wear today' dilemmas :)

and how do these fit - do they slip or pretty much stay there - my horse prefers sheepskin (when i ever got to ride her again!!!) and i have SO many nice coloured saddlecloths but only one with sheepskin and I would love to have sheepskin next to her back (as she is a KS horse) and be able to use my nice saddlecloths

ETA - now read entire thread and someones explained it!!!! lol

Although not spine free whats the chances of 'clipping' the spine fur off!!!!???????
