and Im a little bit in love already, what a sweetheart. His old owner travelled him over for me, approx 2.5 hrs in the lorry and he stepped off, straight into a stable and started eating. I have turned him out in his own paddock, next door to TB and shettie, they had a good hoon about for all of 5 mins and when I left half an hour ago all 3 were eating (well TB was sheltering from the rain and eating) but in true Scots fashion the other 2 were out in the lovely autumn downpour!! For those that were asking he is by Clandon Moriati, a gorgeous dappled dun according to his passport. Now a question, best make of rug for a deep chested chap. Ches 6'3" does fit him, ish, but is way too tight round his chest, I would say he would be better in a 6' with deeper cut to the front, best brands for that anyone?

Maybe a Masta rug - they are quite generously cut. But Im loathe to answer any of your questions TBH because there is not a SINGLE photo of the boy on your thread which is frankly unacceptable :-DDD

I believe that premier equine rugs are quite generous. Shires are quite adjustable around the front especially if you get the type with clips and buckles (eg Typhoon) rather than just buckles. Also as L said, where are the photos? :p

he's lovely.

Mark todds and Mastas fit my highlands and deep chested cob best. WBs and Shires wouldn't go anywhere near him - wbs have some of the shallowest necks I've ever encountered!

I'd keep a close eye on his weight if I were you - he looks rather hefty and substantial of crest in that - though the picture could well be deceptive!

He's gorgeous!
What's his highland name?
My chap wears a 6'9" mark Todd, it's the only one with enough chest for him and even then the upper clip is left loose with the lower front one tighter.

Thanks everyone, pleased to report he is bright and well this morning, seems to be a very chilled sort of boy. I will be weightaping him regularly as I do the little shettie, he has his own bit of paddock which at the moment has a lot of grass in it, it is this years grass which has not been eaten down so is now quite long and past its best, Im hoping he will be OK on this through the winter, in spring I will have to think about weight management more seriously. He is very friendly and amenable and I think will be a really easy horse to fall completely in love with, am very excited about getting his tack sorted and getting out and about on him.

No, I'm sorry I absolutely cannot picture you on him at all. I'll come and collect him shortly ;)

He's gorgeous and I'm incredibly jealous, having always wanted a Highland pony :o

Hope you have lots of fun with him, and keep the pictures coming! :)

Bikerchickone I think you will find he is mine all mine:D
I saw these the other week in Scotland they were stunning in their natural environment. Fortunatly for hubby I had overpacked as usual and the boot was full or I might have snaffled a couple of small ones:D

Myboyche where did you find your lovely laddie?

You are all very kind. I started off looking at connies but found they are now much lighter framed in general than my old lad. One of my clients breeds and shows Highland ponies and although the lovely mare she had for sale wasnt altogether right for me, through her network of friends, and also a suggestion on here, I found Lesley and Murry. I am hoping he will see me through my riding life, he is 7, I am 50! Thanks for saddle suggestions, I will check them all out and have a chat with my trusty saddle fitter about the best way to go. Oh, he is 14.2hds by the way.

He is lovely....I love highlands...but it's also where I am from so I am most at home on the back of one!!
We always struggled with saddles though, kent and masters are a good suggestion as they have the changeable gullet, or a native pony saddle may be an idea? Im a big solution saddle fan on natives though, especially on these powerful moving highlands you get now.
I am so jealous of you though as I lost my last Highland ride a year ago, got a TB and a WBx so I cant afford number three..if I could it would be a highland!!
Unusual spelling of the name though? Iv'e never seen it without the A as in Murray or like the area Moray.
Good luck with him, you will have a blast x
