I was contacted last night by the son of a couple who had a puppy off me nearly 11 years ago. I knew the wife (who was a good friend of mine) had passed away with cancer nearly 2 years ago, and now tragically her husband has had a massive stroke and the best prognosis for him is that he will recover sufficiently well to go in a nursing home, not sure of his exact age but barely 60
. The son lives in a small flat, and has a partner who is severely allergic to all things furry.
Now normally I would be inclined to say at 11 he should maybe consider having the bitch pts, but he says she shows no signs of age, and as I have her litter sister who is also very fit, and only lost her mother in October just short of 14 years old, I am inclined to think it is worth trying to find a home for her. The son is prepared to contribute towards her keep, and pay any vets bills etc that she may incur. Poor Saffie (she has the same name as her sister very confusing) has been in kennels for the past 5 weeks, although he does go and walk her whever possible, and he is desperate to find her someone more permanent.
She is not good with other bitches, this is why I can't have her back as I have 3, but adores adults and children alike.
I would be so grateful if anyone reading this would bear her in mind and mention her to anyone you may feel could help. She is in the Reading area at the moment, and ideally I think he would like her to stay in the south, but it is not essential.
