Hoof boots - what a choice now! Help

Been a few years since I needed hoof boots and then I used Boa Boots and original Old macs once the larger sizes became available.

We need to wear these boots for hacking out and looking at what is available, there is a lot more choice nowadays so looking for any recommendations or can anyone recommend anywhere that you can try them before you buy?

Will need to measure his hoof to get width/length as guide as I know some boots are better for different shapes.
 
I have to say, I love my cavallo treks for my pony. She has feed which are wider than they are long, so I was quite restricted on possible hoof boots. I was skeptical about them when I saw them, but I had 4 months of hacking on Bodmin moor coming up (taking hacks out for riding school - absolutely loved it!) and I knew the going would be a lot stonier than our usual road and farmland hacking. I wanted something just in case she needed them whilst she was adjusting to the change in terrain. However, despite my doubts they were perfect. I never lost a boot, despite going through thick mud, across streams and galloping over the moors. They are quite clumpy, but they did the job I needed them to do and still look amazing. I would not hesitate to buy again if I ever needed to, although I think they still have a few more years in them yet!!
 
I've had many different types for 2 horses now... had lots of good advice from hoof bootique online and also cannock chase equine. I ordered a fitting kit for the last set I bought as I wanted to get it right.
Most of the hoof boot shops will hire out a fit kit for the main brands for a small fee and also help you choose the best options for you.
 
Another vote for Cavallo Treks here! They are relatively cheap and easy to put on. Old macs seem to have more sizes to get a closer fit but they're a bit of a faff. If I was buying for endurance I would go for renegades any day of the week. I have cavallo simples, but tbh I wouldn't recommend them - again a bit faffy and if the horse stands on the back of them they are a sod to get on and off forever more!!
 
I use easyboot gloves but am not realy finding they're working for us now. I'm going to try scoot boots and have just ordered the scoot boot trial kit from urban horse. You just pay postage and £50 deposit for 3 trial shells. I'm hoping they are easier to get off and on (and stay on).
 
Looks like Cavallo don't do big enough.

Front feet Width approx 162mm wide by 167mm long
Hind feet Width approx 150mm wide by 162mm long

Anyone used Easyboot epics?

Otherwise on the hunt for the discontinued Boa size 6s (have 5s which no longer fit!)

yes I didn't get on with them although I used them early on and for his back hooves. There is a website/facebook group called hoof boot boutique and if you google that and contact liz with your measurements she will advice.

I Didn't get on with the scoot boots as my horses hooves have gone too long, I'm starting to do short hacks now on tarmac bootless to build them up again.
 
I use Easyboot Epics and I like them. There is more leeway in the fit than with a Glove. Gloves tended to come off mine as his hooves weren't quite the right shape, but the Epics have hardly ever come off and never without a good reason (like getting his hoof trapped between 2 rocks).

I found Boas dreadful. They either came off or rubbed, the cables were always snapping and there was no grip especially on grass. I vowed never to put them on again after I was hurt when my horse's legs went from under him and we hit the deck.
