Today I desided to school the horrid one as the weather is prity rubbish. There where no jumps up so he was being a lazy watsit. I did loads of transitions and turns to get him listening and he eventualy stared trotting forwards. :) Then I asked him to canter and he was being a little sod. picking up the wrong lead and cantering so slowly. He was all bunched up and it was soooo uncomfortable and he also kept grunting.
I got so annoyed with him so I smacked him with the whip. Then he did an almighty buck and I nearly flew off over his head  Luckly no one saw this :p I sat up and growled at him " Get on with it you little Bas****"
I asked for canter again and we flew round the school.
After this he did some lovely work and even went into an outline in trot and managed a small amount of leg yeild in trot :D (thats our new trick, he's just lurnt to legyeild in walk)
I'm sad I didn't have my camera on to film him going so nicely as i'm shore it was prob a one off :p Although i'm glad it wasn't filming when i nearly fell off ;)

Hahaha exactly the same as my boy was being today (minus the wrong leads but all backwards and horrid!). Slapped him (gently) asking him to take a bigger step in the walk as was going to a free walk and he fly bucked and galloped off.... now if that was a real test im not sure I would have been marked very highly :p

Im gutted you didnt have your camera on during the great big buck....i could have done with a laugh today (obviously not meant in a horrid way, im glad you didnt get thrown off or hurt...but after how much the herbsters praises have been sung the last couple of days!! :-D) :-D

Naughty Naughty Horrid One :-D

Leg yeild in trot....he is such a dude.

Sanolly tell me about it. But I do love him realy :D :D :D

Snowysadude I know I don't think it would go down to well in the show ring either. But atleast the judge doesn't ride natives :D It is so uncomfortable when the are all bunched up and it feels like you are almost cantering backwards isn't it. I can't imagen it's nice for the horses either  Horrid goes so nicely on the lunge now. Why can't he do it when i'm on top

elsazzo I love him realy. :) He can just be such a pain in the bum sometimes

skychick I know you don't mean it in a horrid way. I promise i'll try to have my camera filming next time. He went well in the end. Maybe I just need to get cross with him and then he'll work well. He's such a funny little boy. I'm shore if there had been jumps up he would have gone nicely from the start :D

stop messing around and give him the 'welly!' I would be taking the piss too if I had you in the saddle. Stop messing around woman.

Shouting nasty things makes you feel so much better about it dosent it even though they dont understand. Get herbie with his leg yeilding in trot too, dressage pony and show jumper in the making now then? ;) Naughty herbie for trying to buck you off (sounds like he has been talking to mine) he cant have to much of a neck to land on either.

dafthoss theres nothing infront of you. He puts his head between his knees to buck. Even if he didn't do that he's only about 12.2hh anyway :p :D
Growling at him seems to work better than hitting him. If you hit him he just tells you to bugger off and bucks :(
He's not doing proper leg yeild yet ;) but he is moving away from my leg so it's all good :D We'll get there one day. But he's not doing bad considering what he was like before ;) :D :D :D

no wonder he doesnt want to work for you with that attitude!?

So, your answer to the problem of pony with ideas above his station would be what?

I've given my wayward idiot a sock in the gob, and a few cracks on the arse this morning for taking the piss......oddly enough after that he actually worked rather nicely:D:rolleyes:

its ok we like small steps :D I was so happy for days after going clear round 65cm. I hate small ponies when they put their head down and buck I think they know they have a little neck  but at least its not far to fall :D

sleepingdragon10 sometimes you need to be alittle unorthodox with these cheeky little ponies. ;) Herbs worked much better after his telling off to. Everyone else has been scared of him in the passed and given up so he tries it on with me but he soon gets a shock when I answer him back :p

dafthoss not far to fall I agree but I wouldn't put it passed horrid to stamp on me for good measure ;) :p :D

celfyddydau He's not in pain he's had all the checks. He just tries to scare me. His bunching up and grunting is a warning he's in no mood to work. It scared his last owner into not riding him and he tries that game with me but it doesn't wash.

Laura, I agree totally:)
I too have a naughty native and fully sympathise. My chap is rising 5 and has been taking the P for way too long. Got the shock of his life on wednesday when I let him know from the start that I wasn't putting up with his **** any longer, so today he tried something new to try it on!

Good on you for sticking at it:D

What a little munchkin haha. Well done for sticking at it though, just shows that you can get them to work if you carry on. Not riding my mare atm (should be getting on next weekend yay :D) but today she was a right ar*e and i got squished against a wall about 10 times and she was being a right eejiot but after a few telling offs she soon got the message that i wouldnt put up with it haha.
How is Merryn doing? We need more herbs and merryn pics :D

You naughty horrid person. Why didn't you give him a pat & put him back in his stable? He obviously didn't feel like working today, but you made him anyway.:eek:

;):rolleyes::rolleyes::p

Naughty pony! Sounds like he's been talking to my boy, argue for 20 minutes, shake your head every time mummy gets cross and fierce, and finally when she's completely worn out and decided to give up and have a cup of tea, go like a dream for the last 5 mins!

Oh I'm sure I should burn in hell for my crime.......should have just let him have his own way........lets face it, who wants to deal with an animal who behaves and is saf to handle anyway!;):p

As i see it,Laura has straightened(for want of a better word) the pony up.Without her he would have been a spoilt brat without any future......I know what id rather see.

Ditto this. Laura seems to be doing a very good job with this guy, and because of her he'll have a good future.

There is no place for pussy footing around when you have a horse/pony that continually takes the piss.

Ooh, I know what you mean about the funny bunched up canter, my pone does it sometimes, actually feels like a series of tiny weany bucks but its actually because he is taking such short strides ! It makes me giggle so much, and then when I saw him do it with some one else :D will have to video it !
Like yours he sometimes just takes the p. Its so fustrating ! Like, "hello horsey, what the heck are you up to you looney !? If you behave schooling will be over much quicker !" Sometimes I just accept that its tell him off, 2 laps round the arena well behaved and call it a day or we just wind each other up :D
