I had a phone call today from a very distressd friend of mine, she was on her way to work when she saw a gypsy cob pony galloping flat out along the road attached to a large flat bed trailer, the driver had fallen off and had been ran over by a car that was following.
The poor pony crashed into a steel bollard and somehow manged to get unhitched from the cart and continued to gallop a futher 2 miles down the road.
The trailer was completely mangled, how the hell he got away with breaking anything is a miracle.
My friend finally managed to track the pony down along with a police woman who was also at the scene.
The police couldnt get any help with the injured pony at all, they had no facilities what so ever, they couldnt even get a vet to come out and treat him unless my friend left them her credit card details, which i find absolutely discusting, poor pony.
Anyway after a few phone calls she managed to get the pony transported to a yard, they have very kindly offered to look after the pony for a few days untill, it recovers.
Hes in a pretty bad way, the collar has damaged his throat and he has got a bad cut on his leg, he dosnt know what leg to rest, poor boy, he's very lucky.
Thing is, with him being a gypsy cob they are not sure that the owner will come foreward or pay for the treatment he needs and the lady can only keep him for a week.
Does anyhone know any rescues in that area that may be able to help.??
