Hey all,
I’m looking for advice. I am in my 20’s with an undying love for all things horsey. My dream is to work in the equestrian circuit one day but my only concern is that in which area.
I have great GCSES, ok Alevels and a PA course behind me. I’ve worked in a few companies doing admin etc. So my question is are there any ‘horse’ PA jobs? Or anything similar? I imagine their must be in the racing industry but in the eventing maybe? Breeding? And if so how would I find these jobs?

Thank you in advance.

In racing yard you get secretaries who deal with all of the entries, declarations, liaising with owners, racecourses etc. And is a very varied job, hard work on peak season in big, busy yards. But racing is a good industry to get into. It is one of the only equestrian disciplines to have a proper pay structure and is fully regulated.

The other side of racing is the bloodstock industry where again there are many varied roles from working in a stud to working in a sales complex.

And then you get the work on he racecourses themselves.

Look up the Careers In Racing website to give you a better idea of what goes on.

Other than racing, I know some of the large farms hire p.a's and secretary's.

Otherwise the governing bodies ie; bd, bs, be will always need office staff, large show centres need secretaries.

Some very busy and well known riders need p.a's aswell. There are a lot of options they are just unlikely to be widely advertised.

There are some specialist recruitment agents for the horse industry - perhaps something like that or you could talk to them to see what comes up, you may need to be rather pro-active and think outside the box to find what you are looking for and be brave enough to approach people that aren't advertising.

I have previously approached people that I would like to work for not advertising to just say I would like to and let me know if anything comes up and heard back straight away!

You could do a Farm Secretary course which includes things like payroll, VAT, etc. But there are many admin jobs around so you would have to keep an eye out for local jobs.
