I have previously posted on here about this but things have moved further on now and any help or advice would be great
My horse is genarally sensitive and does have odd little lump ect.. and in summer he really reacts to fly bites
He has recently been come out in huge hives now if i give you a run down of events you may be able to he
couple of weeks My horse is lumpy bumpy itchie pissed off!!!!!!
day 1 Ok i used mane and tail day before NOW NOT USING
I posted on here and realised he was having too much protein in feed (alfa oil , copra meal , ready mash , sugar beet, veg oil) now not using
so i change to ready grass , sugar beet , Ride and relax , veg oil ( previously had ready grass and sugar beet and a basic feed no probs)
DAY 2-3 He getting worse and pissed off
DAY 4-6 Not looking to swollen but not happy off we trot to vets steriod injection , Given a wash to use and steriod cream .
Day 5-6 stayed in over weekend used brand new rugs lumps went down with injection he looked perfect and happy hooorayy!!!!! Lunged no probs
Day 7 am put him out in field with old rug washed 3 months ago at equine wsh place ( today the day steriod injections would start to wear off anyway)
pm looked alittle lumpy but might just be me thinking it
pm+ rode for 20 mins tails starts swishes he becomes uncomftable got off there back !!!
Day 8 am urned out in outdoor rug thats brand new never been washed anywhere has been worn few times still there not as raised he seems itchie
pm spoke to vet he said 2 options seriod injection (not going to cure only help) or 4-6 week oral steriod tablets again wont cure but could help until pollen or something chnages that we dont even know off
also there is a dermological test available but about £1000 and not proved to give you the answer
i can take everything away paperbedding bagged rye grass and take away hard feed everything introduce and see what comes back ..
Im thinking now all it could be is
a) vegetable oil
b) slight chance rugs but has had them on for 3 months since washed never been problem
c) most likely answer something in the field (also vet agrees with this )
